Sorry but I didn't see this in the posts or in the 'how to' section but with all of you with HID's, did you route the HID's to a switch or relay when you hooked them up? (since the lights are triggered when the key is turned and flash off and on when the bike is started) If so, what did you do/use? Thanks. | ||

I leave the key on for 20 seconds to let the hids warm up, then I start the bike. | ||

I don't do anything special with the HIDS on my Sprint. Had them for 2 years, no issues | ||

I just run them off the factory wiring. No switches, no fancy relays, no waiting for lights to warm up. No issues.  (I do this on all my HID equipped vehicles.) | ||

+1 for nothing special. I have 35W HID on the 12X, 55W HID on the XT, and they both came with 55W Halogen stock, so no mods needed. | ||

If you are doing just your low beams, you should be fine with the factory wiring. If you plan on doing high also, you will blow the fuse if you warm up both high and low at the same time. You have to let the lows warn up before turning on the highs. At least on an R this is true. I don't know about the CR. Ask me how i know. | ||

I let my HID ballasts & lamps warm up for a few seconds, not trying to start the bike until after the battery light comes on. However, when I have to crank the bike a bit to get it to start (mostly when it's very cold like today) sometimes the lights stay off. When that happens, I let the bike warm up a bit beyond the minimum operating temp, then shut it off and repeat. After the bike warms up, it always fires right back up without much effort and the HID lights remain on. |
