Dannybuell thank you sir. You are very kind. I truly look forward to receiving these stacks, and hope that it happens. I feel Twin is there to serve a much needed niche and if they can get the logistics part straightened out, the US market may be a great deal for them, and us. It may take a local distributor (hint hint), but time will tell.

All the best!

Well, I'm not feeling so darn civil. I think Twin Motorcycles needs to get a US distributor so each and every package doesn't have to go through this trying to get ONE single set of stacks to ONE purchaser. Put a dozen of them in one box, use reliable shipping methods, and send the box to someone here in the U.S., such as Al at American Sport Bike. That would be an excellent choice. Then no one has to go through all this.

Well, I guess I'm glad the website crashed and stopped me from purchasing the stacks last night. I think I will wait a little longer before I decide to purchase them again. Maybe I will wait until the shipping issues get resolved.

He trider,

Martin is doing all the shipping here, I am sure he will solve this as he has done before with lost packages. It is never fun when this happends but untill today all packages are received. I can see you and Cowboytutt are good friends. He received them and a lot of other USA customers, I am sorry to say but be a little patience.

Cowboytutt, we made a 160 RWHP kit, that is 180 HP kit on the crack, more info can be found here in our Boneville topic: http://www.twinmotorcycles.nl/artikelen.asp?cid=6& aid=76

As soon as all the production is in order and checked and tested we will release a new article about it.

Father of an era- don't be too discouraged. I did get an email again from Martin. The story he is getting on his end conflicts with what the USPS has told me (still in customs vs. lost package), but I'll dig into that today. I did finally get a receipt, so I can use that now to help push things on this end, if in fact the box is stuck for some reason.

I will say that you can buy with confidence, just don't use the USPS shipping option. DHL is not so great either. Maybe there's another option? I would call and talk to Martin and see what other options they have.

Best Regards...

Is it common to use Crank HP instead of RWHP when quoting a performance package? No wonder I didn't think 180 was realistic.

Yes, It's normal go to a motorcycles builder website and they all do that.

Every advertisement is 90% of the cases crank HP even Buell did that

Do you think the 146 HP Buell was telling you was on the rear wheel (-:,

Easy,

I hope you get the shipping deal squared away with the stacks. I'm interested. Maybe you will have a sale on them.

You are right that most manufacturers claim crank HP.

I considered your shop more of a tuning/race service and not a manufacturer.

If my bike makes 137 at the wheel what should I say is the HP if someone asks? I don't know the conversion. I must be over 160 then... cool.

Looks like your shop is the only one I can find that advertises crank HP.

Just a few I found quickly below. They all use RWHP.

http://www.erikbuellracing.com/motorcycles/1125R/

http://www.jetroadracing.com/racing_pages/xb12r_ra cing/buell_specs.html

http://www.mega-flo.com/Racers_Dyno.htm

http://www.nrhsperformance.com/dynoroom.shtml

When someone races at Bonneville isn't it normal to use the actual top end via radar and not a theoretical what it should do figure for records?

Sorry, I guess I'm Cranky today...

The average seems to be about 122-123 hp at the wheel for a stock 1125. That equates to about a 16% loss if you use the baseline of 146 hp at the crank.
146 x .84 = 122.64 hp
So, your 137 hp at the wheel, guess where it falls? Almost, but not quite 160 hp at the crank.
137 x 1.16 = 158.92 hp

If the tune for the pipe you have gets released, you would probably break 160 hp _at the crank_ but it won't be by a lot. 161, maybe 162.

I had no idea that 180 hp was using "crank" hp instead of rear wheel hp. That would explain a lot.

Missed this one the first time. 180 hp at the crank would only net 151.2 hp, not 160.

Crank Horsepower don't get any more real than this. I currently have an 1125r engine on a 901 superflow engine dyno. The engine just didn't bolt up I had to do some modifications to the transmission to the input shaft of the dyno to make it fit but everything workout out good. This is a spare motor and is equivalent to what I'm currently running on my race bike. Stock 08 motor, Erik Buell Racing race exhaust,Erik Buell Racing race ecm. I want to get a baseline hp number with this set before I do my engine build so I know my horsepower gains. This is the all in the first development phase. Everything will look more tidy on the dyno and I will have some videos and crank horsepower numbers to share soon.

Mike,

With decked heads, timed cams and the Buell race exhaust, I know you can get 150 at the rear wheel.

I'm told there's more there, but I didn't care... 150 is plenty enough!

Hey Easy, how often do you send your products to the states? What is the average wait time and what guarantee do I have that what happened to Trider wont happen to me? I really want to purchase the stacks but to have to deal with the waiting and the not knowing when the product would arrive would drive me crazy. Are there any other options for delivery? Thanks!

Father of an Era, the time to get through Customs varies. My package took just over 3 weeks to clear the NY station, but it arrived there in late November which put it in line with all the other holiday stuff. Likely a little shorter time-window now. With Customs, no one can actually tell you... it goes in and comes out when it comes out...

I think the more critical issue is whether customs will destroy your shipping label in their quest to see what's in there? If so, I can tell you what happens next... Not a lot... Hang onto that tracking number...

Your best bet is to use any entity other than the USPS (be careful with DHL though... buyer beware). The USPS's "red tape", as Martin accurately describes it, is literally maddening! I remember the first time I got someone on the phone: They know it's me, we know where the box is, we know it's "lost"... and their answer was that the shipper needs to file some Form. What the hell... I BOUGHT the damn thing! Are you kidding me? With the Post Office, the addressee is completely at the mercy of the shipper's form-filing skills at this point.

Having asked Martin 3 times for him to open an investigation and forward me the case number (no luck still, BTW), I finally got the attention of the PO and they "escalated" my case to Consumer Affairs (go figure... I guess you really have to be pissed off to get all the way to those guys...). Since then, I've received a little more help and filed the same form now 3 times too... (hey, that's Government "help" for you). I think we're getting somewhere!

In all fairness, I think Marin is as completely frustrated as I am. Through our communication, it seems like he got some bad info, not once, but a few times, and passed that along to me. It doesn't help things when you are told your package is undeliverable by the people in possession of it, that the shipper needs to fill out a form, and then the shipper tells you several times that it's still in customs, or it's gone from customs in NY to customs in Atlanta. After a few of those back & forth communications, you tend to get a little more forceful with the Post Office. Someone has to step up and help, because you're stuck!!

I would just call up Martin, talk shipping options, and place your order. My case is probably abnormal. I can tell you that Martin is very pleasant and I believe he wants to help. I just don't think he's getting good information, or really knows best how to help in my case, after all... they don't really have a local US Post Office in the Netherlands...

I'd say call him up and go for it- look on the bright side: you'll probably get yours before I get mine...

And for your guarantee question... that's what credit cards are for sir!

Puzzled, my shipment, and I suspect yours, occured before the "cargo terrorism threat". Even so, it took two attempts to get the product to me. The guys at TM are trying HARD to make all of this right. They are working on improving their internet ordering process. They are even looking into having a US distributor. But until they have their new systems "online" I would highly recommend you use your credit card so you can reverse the charges if you don't receive the item in a reasonable amount of time.

I was the one who recommended to my friend Trider, and to this forum, to purchase these stacks, and to do so "with confidence". And they are a good product that no one else offers.

But until they figure out a way to confirm the order, provide a working tracking number in the United States, or find a partner as a US distributor, I cannot and will not endorse their company.

They need to be the ones to make this right and figure out the shipping problems.

For me to encourage others to risk this sort of dilemma would be unethical and while Trider may disagree this is how I feel about it and I'm not going to change my mind until TM finds new ways to get their products to us in the United States.

Regarding the shipping, it seems like you guy's are going through what most of us go through when ordering from the States.
I have put in a few orders with TM over the last few months and have had no problem whatsoever, I don't live in the States but still about 3000miles from Holland. Each time I have used the cheaper option TNT which normally takes around 10 days as opposed to DHL's 3 days, when ordering I email Martin martin@twinmotorcycles.nl directly with a list of parts and a credit card number, maybe you should try that method?
Good luck...

Be sure Martin sends you a copy of the purchase invoice so you have legal rights to find out what happened to your package just in case it gets lost. And use that credit card in case of a charge back.

Even Easy admits in an earlier post on this thread that they have had problems with lost packages.

Martin told me by email he had fixed the internet ordering website. They really need to use Fed Ex when shipping to the United States as DHL does not ship here so the tracking number will probably not work. And the TNT/USPS option is even worse.

My recommendation would be that TM use American shipping companies like UPS and Fed Ex when shipping to the states and DHL when shipping to Europe.

If you use the cheaper TNT method, just insist for a receipt from TM and you should -eventually- be able to get your shipment home.

If it takes you 3 times to ask for the receipt for your purchase, raise bloody Hell and let us know.

-Tutt
