4100 miles on my '10 CR.
Bike was working PERFECTLY. Every day, every time, every ride.
Ditched the office yesterday to watch my kid's soccer game. Rode to another office to work on video for a few hours. Came outside, started her up, warmed it, geared up, climbed on, pulled the clutch in ("Wow," I thought, "these gym visits are paying off -- I'm stronger.") Pulled in the front brake, kicked it into first and the bike jumps forward against the brake pressure. Front end pitches forward, I ease off front brake, apply rear brake and stall it. Shoulda hit the kill switch but all I could think was "don't drop it."

Empty master cylinder, just the slightest evidence of weep at the outer gasket.

Felt back along the bottom of the pipe etc and found out where my Dot4 was.

My CR is at what is arguably one of the 5 best dealers in the country for Buells, so we'll see how they treat this.

I'll report back...

The clutch on my '10 CR went at 2,800 miles - took over 6 weeks for 1 seal to arrive - the rest came in a few days ...

the oil sight glass. i am assuming this is built into the engine case. Can this be retro fitted?

Same thing happened on my '10 CR at 7500 km.
After a night at 700 km away from home, I found my master cylinder totally empty. And the leak was nowhere to be found.

Towed the bike to the nearest dealer with Buell Assistance.

It was not the first '10 CR with that problem for the dealer. The problem was solved in 50 minutes. And I was able to continue my trip.

There was a metallic chip on the seal of the piston of the clutch actuator. That created a leak. But I was lucky: the seal was not cut. So the dealer removed the chip, cleaned the piston, put grease and oil where needed and assembled the actuator.
New fluid was put in the master cylinder.

Since that, I have ride more than 4000km with no trouble.

As the dealer explained, the metallic chip is created because of a lack of grease on the clutch release pin. This defect is coming from the motor assembly line. Somebody did not put enough grease at that place.

The '09 do not have the same clutch actuator and may not have the same leak root cause.

It's the break down of the anodizing that is causing the problem. That's what the dealer has told me, and I saw the same thing on American Sport Bike.

Natty this is your dealer. Your bike is done and all we had to do was install kit X2086.1AM. Your bike has been test ridden and no further leak is present. Thank you for choosing Glendale H-D and Buell for all your timely service needs.

YEAH GLENDALE HD!

:-)

48 hours and I'm at work so my bike is waiting for ME! How's that for service from a service department?

(and yes, I pay retail there, and no, they didn't ask me to post this).

The anodising was perfect on mine when it has leaked (several times). The kit will cure the leak for a while.
There are engineers 'on the case' in the UK to find a permanent fix to this problem.

Anyone noticed that the clutch hydraulic fluid turned dark in color just before the leak presented itself??

Yes mine is very dark in color. It used to be clear like the brake sight glass.
