My best to date is a 10.002

There was an oil down that night so I was unable to make another pass to try and make a run in the 9's. So my elusive hi 9 run awaits. Something for me to look forward to this coming year.

sorry to hijack, just one thing....
Puzzled- I didn't realize you ran at Island. I run with a team, and 4 of the 6 of us just ran down there 2 weeks ago. I didnt make the trip, but I'm sure I will see you at some point(s) next season.

Daniii

Mike just ran 9.3 on an 1125 with an exhaust and an ecm from Erik Buell Racing.

I wouldn't call that highly modified. I bet you can take a full second of off that just shooting nos to it. So I suspect your suspicion is incorrect, since no one we know of has really modified an 1125r highly and brought back a slip

"Because HD makes the Destroyer, which in the quarter mile, IS the fastest production bike"

quickest, not fastest. since the dawn of the 186 mph limit has now been imposed, the original Hayabusa remains the Fastest Production motorcycle

Actually now to date according to some reading the BMWS1000r seems to be the fastest.

Hmmm, the 1125RR was a production bike, which means even out of the H-D family the Destroyer was far from the fastest. Quickest yes, although it would be interesting to see what a long swingarm on an 1125RR would do...

I understand the Destroyer was a production bike, but was it street legal or streetable?

Hate to take a corner with that square rear tire although I guess at least you don't need a kickstand. : )

It needs a kickstand, that 7" tire is not wide enough to stand alone...you need a Big Boy 10" tire for that.

I hope one day somebody puts an 1125 motor in a good chassis (like a Kosman) properly set up with a properly tuned motor and clutch.

It would be interesting to see how it would work out for somebody to try to campaign one of those Beemers at the local dragstrip every weekend for a season...wonder how many passes are in one before it pukes....those things are wound mighty tight...and I know two people that have had major transmission problems.

The 1125 is proven tough....

I would have to see that to believe it. It must be a highly modified, lightened or something. And super high dollar, then you have to ask why?

I have had a couple of big hardleys and I would imagine a 18 sec. run would be good. My '95 Ultra had a whopping 42 hp and 800 pds. Not exactly a recipe for a 1/4 miler.

My Buds(Willis RAcing) have a couple destroyers and they are bad ass bikes for sure. They launch like friggin rockets! 1.3 60 fts!
Stock beemer in the 8's? I love the bike but i think thats a stretch.
Not testing your word but is there any proof of that? A stock ANYTHING in the 8's has my respect!
The Destroyers run 9.30-9.45 consistently thru weather changes. Bikes have run 2 seasons with no trouble and no mods. Not a harley fan anymore but the Destroyer...destroys

That is a PRO rider with a prepped bike. I'm guessing the average guy could only hope to run a mid to hi 9 on that bike. (still ran an 8.90 though!)

Mike1125R has run 9.30's on a stock motored Buell 1125R with a stretched swing arm. I'd say he is giving up 45 plus horse to the BMW.

I'm more impressed with Mike's accomplishment over the BMW.

Completely agreed, Puzzled. The work Mike1125r and Littlebutquick is nothing short of amazing. I would imagine the majority of badwebbers would be very disappointed at what their 1125s run for time. I believe the magazines said mid 10s.
Not gonna happen.
Don't deny yourself though Puzzled- you are making some really nice passes and the 9s are just a whisker away. All 3 of you are setting a high bar, and giving me numbers to chase!

quote:

An 1125 vs 1130 V-Rod race would be interesting. The 1125has a couple hundred pounds advantage, and about 20 more RWHP. And 6 speeds vs 5, not that you'd ever get out of third outside of a recetrack.

I have both a 2008 Buell 1125R and a 2007 H-D V-Rod VRSCAW (1130cc). The V-Rod has an insanely loud pipe and a K&N filter. I haven't had it dyno'd yet, so I honestly don't know how much power it has, but it does feel like it has more than stock. I did have a 2010 V-Rod Muscle 1250cc loaner bike once and my V-Rod felt like it had about the same amount of power.

Once I was out riding the V-Rod with my friend Norm on his 2007 Aprilia RSV-R. It's a nice bike and he is a competent rider having done many trackdays. We were cruising on the highway and he indicated to me that he wanted to try a 2nd gear roll-on to see which did better. I agreed and, to my surprise, my bike actually pulled away from his. When we arrived at our destination, he told me that his was accidentally in 3rd, not 2nd. I believe him since I was expecting that his bike, being ligher, would have the advantage.

My point? I have no point except that I really need to get the V-Rod dyno'd.

Oh, I will state that the 1125R is way quicker than the V-Rod and faster than both V-Rod and RSV-R, so there is no comparison at all.

Chamelion, I would be surprised if you have more RWHP than stock with that combo on the V-Rod. And I agree that the 1125 is much faster than the V-Rod. But don't race a turbo V-Rod.
Anyone put a turbo on the 1125? (yet)

I have seen a turbo V-Rod do 3 dyno runs, maybe something was not right with it, but it was not impressive at all...The owner was more or less laughed at by some very rude bystanders, needless to say very childish on their part.
The owner was pretty embarrassed to say the least.

My 2000 stock motored Turbo Busa. Street tune at 7-8 PSI with water injection. Had the parts here to build a 300HP bike but decided it wasn't in my best interest to do so.

I almost picked up a V-Rod before purchasing the 1125. Really considered it for awhile.

I have raced against many Turbo Busa's in my years of racing, some with extended swing arms and some with the stock wheel base...That is a sight to see as they pass you on the big end with their rear wheel loosing traction at those speeds.

I have a 2010 FLHX and a 2008 1125r with race ecm and HMF. The glide feels like a tractor after getting off the 1125r. Whenever a rep at the dealer tries to sell me a new pipe or some "high performance" add ons for the street glide, I just tell them that if I want to go fast, Ill ride my 1125r. The street glide wasnt meant to be fast, much like most of HD's products. But as a comfortable cruiser/tourer, its top notch. That big v-twin has evolved to be as reliable and aurally and aesthetically pleasing as possible, not to be fast.

I liken it to comparing a diesel truck to a sports car. Sure, the truck wasnt designed for performance, but its still fun to drive one thats been hot rodded. In many ways, a diesel that runs a 13 second quarter mile is more impressive than a corvette that runs a 12.

And then there is always the old adage, " Its more fun to ride a slow bike quickly than it is to ride a quick bike slowly."
