Ahh, suspension topics ... Almost as much fun as synthetic vs regular oil! I asked a serious question a few weeks back about rear tire spin that I was experiencing on my '09R. And no, it wasn't a "my bike is so bad***" thread. Another Buell'er said to increase my front pre-load to better plant the rear tire. I was skeptical, but tried a full turn (+) to see what happened. By just increasing front preload you will shift weight to the rear, which will do both things you have mentioned. Have you properly set your sag both front and rear? | ||

I never really measured sag. I set it up just like the manual specified (165 ride weight) and backed everything off a step since that seemed too stiff for me. I understood the concept of more front pre-load shifting weight to the rear, but have been pleasantly surprised how much a tweak here and there changes the bike. Mike | ||

I tinkered with it (newbie to sportbikes) the first few hundred miles, adjusting and then riding. Then one day, it just felt right ... Like I was in the bike, not just on it. The only issue I had was rear tire spin in straight lines. Longtime drag racer, old habits die hard. But going up a turn (now at 7) on the front preload cured that. I'm not new to power wheelies, as I tend to experience them at high RPM gear changes, but I'm liking the new experience of midrange style. Nice and smooth ... Mike |
