My speedometer will suddenly go to zero while I am riding and stay that way and then suddenly come back with the correct speed 10 or 15 minutes later. I have a 2009 1125R and it has done this since I bought the bike new. Anyone else having this problem? | ||

Bad plug connection or bad VSS. I've heard of a few VSS' going bad, no probs here. Another possibility is the IC - Try to find a way to duplicate the issue then take it to your dealer so they can diagnose. Don't take it in until you can repeat the issue tho, they have to see it fail. Zack | ||

If anybody has their speedo go out AND their brake light quit working, replace the fuse!! They are on the same circuit and if the fuse blows both will go out (I'm assuming this is a safety measure: if the fuse for the brake light goes out, you'll never know if you're riding unless it's dark out and you look back ... having the speedo go out is like the "warning light" for that fuse). Happened to me and I thought it was my VSS ... turned out it was just that popped fuse. | ||

Jeepinbueller: One way to see if the fuse is the problem is to honk the horn. It's on the same circuit too. In fact, if there is a short in the horn, it'll take out the speedo AND the brake light. DAMHIK. But if it was the fuse, it wouldn't intermittently work. It wouldn't work at all. | ||

It's the VSS. The speed doesn't just happen to go to 0 if the fuse is blown...and then suddenly come back on. Keep it simple. |
