Be prepared for some stupid/noobish questions ahead:

Does anyone have suggestions for protecting my CR in case I tip over or dump it at reasonably low speeds? I used to have a lightning and those frame pucks worked wonders. But with the CR's obtuse air scoops I haven't the faintest how you'd preserve those during a dump.

you wont protect the scoops... the scoops were set up to protect the bike.

there are carbonfiber engine case covers though to protect that. i think ebr has them.

stupidly, i let my father attempt to ride my CR. hes in his 60s, and has his original honda dream. rides it like 3 times a year.

Cosigners guilt right?

anyways

the scoop and the little puck slider things will take it all. bar ends dident even hit the ground. that and the engine covers

I had a medium-speed lowside with my CR. The pod takes the brunt of the damage and was designed to be a replaceable part for that reason. If you're concerned about availability, buy some spares now from American Sport Bike.

The engine case covers that no_rice mentioned are also needed (Erik Buell Racing does have them, $300 for both sides) as the cases will get scraped up in a fall.

I can't remember if my bar end ever touched, but the ball end on my clutch lever is ground down some, as well as the swingarm spool, shifter peg, the bottom edge of the lower belt guard and the real pulley goes a very little bit of rash as well.

I also saddle bags on which protected the tail section - I'd guess if they weren't on there would be rash on that plastic as well.

Buy an extra set of pod covers and a set of axle sliders.

Get some axle sliders and bar ends from American Sport Bike in addition to the engine case covers.

I thought someone was going to tell me that 20% isn't enough if the server is especially good...
