Is it jumping up and down in terms of temp detected, including rapidly going up to 230+F all of the sudden and then coming back down to reality?

replaced it...need to remove throttle assembly..very easy

$10 says the temp sensor wasn't faulty.

I had the same thing, and eventually diagnosed it to the ECM. I called Buell (before the shutdown) and they said "yes, sound like that's the case, but hey, have you low-sided recently?"

As it turned out, I'd garaged-dropped the bike.

"Oh, bleed the coolant at least twice with good heat cycles."

And, sure enough... that was the fix.

Nothing. that's just it... the problem was air in the coolant system.

Sorry I didn't call -- I was at the track all day.
