So I pull the Air filter cover off to check the Air filter and notice that the base plate is pretty dirty so i remove it too(yes I was bored). As I'm cleaning the base plate I notice the inside of the snorkel that is attached to the base plate is dirty. I decide to push a rag down through it and I see what looks like bumpy melted plastic on the inside. I push on it with my fingers and it comes right off. I do this to both sides as far as I can get my fingers in and then use a flat blade screw driver to clean the rest of it out. And where the snorkel enters the Base plate there was a lip of plastic sticking out as much as 1/4" in some places, easily broken off with my fingers. It seems as though the snorkel was 2 halves joined together using some sort of heat or ultra sonic welding process. Well there is some flashing left from that. So to the point I have smoothed out my Air Intake. Will it make a difference? Maybe now my stock 1125R will beat a Turbo'ed Nitrous injected Busa......ok maybe not Cant hurt right? or maybe I'm wasting bandwidth.

I did the same thing a long time ago. Will it make a difference...probably not. But as with you, I feel better about it being cleaned up..!

As for your air box, I found that putting a fairly large bead of white grease around the aircleaner sealing rib or edge sealed it up fairly well.
I checked after about 3500 miles..clean. The inside of the aircleaner is clean.

As many others have found...it's a pretty bad fit..!

I think the crud in the snorkel was front tire excrement... Aka Tires fesces... Or simply, rubber + grime.
