The rear left blinker on my 09 R failed last week and althought the dealer had 2 LED units in stock neither of them worked either. Swapping the RH blinker unit over showed it was definately the LED unit so the dealer ordered me another.

It arrived on the weekend and I went down yesterday to collect it, I rode my other bike (non-Buell) down and asked for the part.

Apparently it was booked as a workshop job and they seemed genuinely surprised when I said I would do it myself (it's only one screw LOL).

They were so pleased that I wasn't going to tie up the workshop that I got coffee and doughnuts for free.

The only slighty concerning piece was that the parts manager didn't think this was a warranty item and wanted me to pay, when I explained that it was something that was well known to fail and that as it was an LED unit there was an expectation that it would last more than 8 months he started to crumble.

Mentioning the white band on the newer units was the final nail and I walked out with it for free.

I have to say that Cheltenham Harley are doing their level best to look after me, speaking to their Service Manager it's clear that the HD riders are giving them a really hard time (lots of back-order parts and lots of repeat failures means the customers are frustrated and taking it out on the staff).

I guess the HD customers have higher expectations and/or they don't have the same awareness of the possible issues before going to the dealer.

I fitted the new unit (5 mins) after spraying it with a tint spray to match the other lights and also took the opportunity to fit an integrated tail light assembly.

It lights up like a Christmas tree light when indicating now - lovely LOL
