I was inspecting the rear tire...it's wearing out super fast. And I noticed that if I grab the rear wheel and shake it it makes a rattling sound. Is that normal? I've had a few wheel bearings wear out on the X-1 and that's sort of how it starts.

I would have thought wheel bearings would be lasting longer than 17K...or am I just optimistic?

Thanks in advance.

Mmmm, mine lasted just over 18K, just had them swapped out and they said the rear master cylinder was sticking and locked the rear wheel up again. That makes twice for that now. Gotta love the extended warranty.

Edit, had the orange seals originally, black ones now. Didn't look at the new numbers, but I assume they're upgrades.

Wheel off the bike, slowly roll the bearings. They should be very smooth feeling, no play, bumpyness or clicking. I felt it with the wheel on, but I knew what I was feeling for. It would click into place every 1/4" or so. Almost like it had sand or some kind of grit in it.

Thanks for tips on checking it out. I need a darn pit stand so I can pull the wheel myself.
