From Wiki - Ducati Energia From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Ducati Energia, SpA is an Italian company based in Bologna which produces electrical and electronic components. It was originally founded by the Ducati brothers, Adriano, Marcello and Bruno Ducati. The original Ducati company was called Societa Scientifica Radio Brevetti Ducati. In the late 1940s, the Ducati company began producing engines for bicycles and later motorcycles, leading to the later split into two companies: Ducati Meccanica and Ducati Elettronica. The former specializing in the manufacture of motorcycles and the latter for radios and electrical devices and components. Although Ducati, the motorcycle company, started in 1925 as a manufacturer of capacitors, electronic parts and small appliances, the companies are unrelated. Which . . . considering that after young Adiano Caveleri Ducati started as a 19-year old physics student who loved experimenting that he, along with brothers Bruno and Marcello, went on to become one of the largest employers of women in Italy . . . is fascinating. If you have never studied the history of Ducati . . it's worth your time. Motorcycles pale in comparison to what the bothers did. They were a major producer of small table top radios, those large "furniture" radios and .. . . . talk about great timing. . . .were making one of the early "photographic micro cameras" that they started during the war but mysteriously ceased production of after receiving orders from someone.  You can thank them for many developments in the electric razor as well. My experience that motorcyclist generally know about as much about Ducati as they do about John Britten. |
