Just went to take the recycleables out to the garage and noticed something out of the corner of my eye..... the inneviteable clutch weep on my 08R! I was hoping it would go while under warranty but now I dread taking it to my broke-dick dealership. What are the odds of them ordering the parts and me keeping it til they come in, I've heard everyone talk about their bike being at the dealer for months.

Tell them you're taking the bike back after they order the parts if there is a long wait to get the parts. Then bring it back in when the parts arrive.

Should not be a big deal at all.

I've been expecting this, and in no way am I bashing my bike... love it! Just hope this dealer doesn't try to pull one over on me!

Any idea if the parts are still back-ordered?

mine started weeping on my '09 CR, I brought it in, showed them, they took down my information, I signed the work ticket, and rode away.
There is no need to leave the bike until the parts come in. I think I read on here somewhere that the kit is back ordered until the end of September...

I'm riding while I wait...

I just picked mine up from the dealer shop today. My bike was there for over seven weeks and it is under warranty. HD headquarters (tech service) told my mechanic to change all kinds of parts, but the clutch kit was not one of them. He tried to convince them that the parts they wanted him to replace, would not solve the problem. After he explained that to me, I made a call to customer support / service, and let them know (nicely) that I was not happy. While I was on the phone with them, they called the shop, and had them order the clutch kit. He also replaced th VSS to fix the speedo problem.
Yesterday I went to pick up the bike and they told me it was being washed. A short time later they told me that my rear tire was flat. Turns out, they picked up a wood splinter on the test ride. So the mechanic drove me home. Today I went back to pick it up with my brand new "free" rear tire. At the end of September I will be taking it back to have the clutch repair done, because thats when they can get the parts.

I did put my new Keda RT3 exhaust on tonight, and that baby looks sweet under there, loud as a mother fu@&er tho. I think I'm gonna take tomorrow off and ride down to the keys, I need to get some saddle time on this scoot.

My dealer (Dales HD in Mt. Vernon, IL) ordered the clutch kit for me just with a phone call--I called and told the service manager the problem and gave him the part number. I brought my bike in a few weeks later when the parts arrived and they fixed it for me in a couple hours while I waited.

I probably got lucky with them not requiring me to bring in the bike before ordering parts (I doubt most dealers would do that), but there is no reason any dealer should hold your bike while waiting for the clutch kit to arrive.

Thanks guys... gonna give the service manager a call first and see how that goes. I'd like to try for an updated IC as well but better not push my luck!

If you want to keep riding the bike all you have to do to keep the brake fluid from ruining your clutch cover. Is,remove the small black(pegusas)cover, with a shop towel wipe the area thats visible(use the towel and no cleaners)grease the o-ring on the cover and reinstall the black cover.Of course if the clutch cover gets damaged and depending on if you've had the cover update they will replace the cover with the repair.

Dales replaced my cover as well at my request since it had been damaged by the fluid and I was able to continue riding the bike while parts were on order. The damage was already done by the time I noticed the leak (I tried cleaning off the stained spot with no luck).

You could just wait a little bit until the brake fluid eats away at the cover's coating so it ends up getting replaced as well if you don't want to risk the dealer telling you that you have to park the bike to keep the cover from being damaged.

UPDATE. Called to check the status of my parts order for the weep and was told it now looks like the end of October... every time they give me a date and I call back to check... they add 2-3 weeks on!!!

Glad I still have the S3 to ride... I know the 1125 is rideable with the leak, but mine is leaking enough. That the tire gets covered!!
