The carbon FMF cans have a habit of falling apart, especially if not packed right/frequent enough. Contact FMF, they may be able to help you out with getting it fixed under warranty. Or you can get a KEDA pipe  | ||

Thanks froggy I woudn,t mind a keda but by the time I got it it would be winter here and I don,t like riding when it is 30 below so I would go with the barker or I might try to find a stock can for seeing how it,s a 250dollor fine for over 92 decibles Mike | ||

Unfortunately carbon cans aren't really a good idea on big twins for that reason, unless they're packed well and frequently the heat and power pulses has a habit of breaking them.. | ||

I talked to fmf and they are going to replace it with a S.S.one and I have to pay the postage there 25$ so i,m happy that I don,t have to buy a new pipe thanks all Mike | ||

There is 2,000km on the bike when I bought it it had 300km on it and the pipe was allready on it Mike | ||

> How many miles on the fmf before this happened? It depends on how the bike is ridden. As few as a couple hundred for a racer, as many as several thousand for a commuter. FMF is aware of the carbon can issues on the 1125r. As has been posted earlier, they are working with a couple of 1125r racers and trackday enthusiasts to harden the pipe for use on the 1125r. The first step was a Ti wrap material to replace the heat sensitive carbon can which was compromised once the packing blew out. That's what happened in the pictures above, and that's why they sell a Ti wrapped can for this bike standard now. The second is investigating packing materials that can stand up to what the 1125r does to exhaust systems. SS wool is part of that solution. Once it's been determined a packing solution that can hold up has been found, the carbon cans will be retested for durability. There's also ongoing work on the mid-pipe for the Apex slip-on that is unlikely to ever been an issue outside of race use 1125r bikes, but in my opinion, it shows FMF's commitment to getting the product for our bikes right. |
