Nice vids, Mountainstorm!

Easyrider - It looks like Mountainstorm was using a GoPro camera: http://www.goprocamera.com/index.php?area=2&produc tid=30

Widely acknowledged as the best HD motorsports camera for the money ($300 retail), the Motorsports kit comes with various mounts to attach to almost anything and they come with a waterproof housing. I've been using them for a couple years, and bought another one last year when they went HD.

For your Bonneville runs, it would be really cool if you could capture the view out the front and the instrument cluster so we can see the speed. Here is a video using a GoPro (standard definition) video I shot doing a track day at Daytona Internationals Speedway . I used of the included mounts attached to the triple clamp.

Here's another video using the HD and standard versions of the GoPro for a picture-in-picture run through Deal's Gap in North Carolina/Tennessee.

Lastly, here is a MotoGP-style video using the included suction cup mount on the tailsection of the 1125R. It stayed solidly mounted through 1,000 miles of riding in 4 days, even in the wet.

I have a canon sd780IS that I want to try and mount off the passenger pegs mount. I plan to angle it back more, so that my knee isn't blocking the view. It's small, shoots HD video and has image stabilization. It's also $139 for a refurbished one.

Only thing I can't figure out is how to shut off the lcd while recording.

Put some black electrical tape over the mic.

I tried a little piece of tape (clear packing) but it was still loud.

@ EasyRider I don't think my Sony CyberShot DCS T-90 could hang in there at 200+ MPH: it's not aerodynamically shaped at all.

Most people use the Go Pro HD, but you may find yourself cursing at it when it shuts off for no apparent reason, or corrupts the memory card, and the sound is horrible. But it's still about the best inexpensive system for making "Action" videos.

Google reviews on the Go Pro and you will find Raves and Rants. Loyal owners and people who returned it immediately.

All I did was bolt a piece of aluminum angle to the rear peg area and bolt the cam to that : D I really don't think it's ready for the Salt Flats.

Thanks for the replies guys. It's not a big deal to make such a mount. Any digital camera that will take movies will probably work.

And yes my ham keeps getting in the way of the action...I've got some ideas about that too.

Haha - its all that "road-hugging" weight that makes it stick in the corners!

I don't really ride with any crew in Central FL. Most of them grew up here and don't know what to do in a corner, or have 3-foot swingarms so their bikes handle like a 18-wheeler. I have my little loops where I string together what few corners we have with on/off-ramps, but mainly I stick to Jennings GP and drive 9+ hours to the Smoky Mountains.

Back to the original thread, the HD GoPro has 2 different backs for waterproof housing, one that's open and one that's closed, to mitigate the wind noise. Also, there is adjustable volume sensitivity on the unit. I find that if you put it out of the wind, either behind the fairing such as on the triple clamp or behind the rider on the tailsection, you don't get drowned out with wind noise.

One of these days I want to get a Go Pro and helmet mount. The Sony is not really built for the constant abuse.

Big Ass Buellers need to stick together : p

I lived in S FL for about 15 years and it was a real trick trying to find a curve. Any time you get up to the mountains it's like being a kid in Disney Land. And now I live there. Within minutes of the house I can be carving. God's Country indeed.
