I would agree that the mofoco standing behind the bike is the problem.

Well after nearly three months my bike finally has a new stator and cover. We will see how long this one last.

Well I finally got my 1125CR back from the dealer and have been riding it all week. Had the kickstand fixed and they vented the cali can to the atmosphere. The last time I picked this up the cali can was installed as per HD and on the way home the CEL came on within the first 20 miles. It thru codes of running rich. Also had it in for the battery light coming on and low voltage down to 11.8. This was a week after the original harness install.

They checked the stator output and told me that it checked out OK. They rechecked the harness install and said it was fine. The only thing they changed was the relay on the harness.

So far this week the voltage has stayed between 13.0-14.2. The highest CT was 210 yesterday in traffic and the voltage was down to 13.0. That has been the lowest it has gone.

Now I have a problem with the gas cap not venting. Filled up with gas 3 times this week and could not get the gas cap off due to the built up pressure. Does the gas cap vent? Or does the overflow line act as the vent? Not sure if it has anything to do with the cali can install. This was not a problem before this last service. Opened the gas cap last night and gas flew all over the bike and me.

They have had my 1125R at the shop for the last 5 weeks and are just getting to look at it. So far they said the stator tested out OK when they looked at it on Monday. They said the battery might be bad. Not sure when I will get the R back.

Yes.

So do you think that vented the cali can to the atmosphere might be the problem and not the gas cap?

Dealer told me today that HD is currently re-writing ECM code to correct Batt light coming on when system functions properly.
I had battery, stator and RR as well as harness replaced 1000 miles ago. This week the batt light comes on when bike is hot and idling at stop light. As I accelerate it goes out. The voltage goes between 11.8 - 14.0 and fluctuates. Dealer says all is working except that bat light is coming on when it shouldn't. Whom do you trust?

Shouldn't the battery come on at 11.8? Isn't that pretty low voltage ?

Hmmm. The Batt light comes on when volts drop to a certain level. All they could really do is lower the threshold where the light comes on. So you would not know when your battery begins to discharge.

Thanks, but no thanks : (

Rkc - Sounds like the system is not venting properly. A pinched hose or plugged line could be causing your dilemma.

Poppa - thats what I thought. But as of now its on their dime and I haven't been stranded with a dead battery yet.

Voltage dipped to 11.4 today. Battery light came on and I called the dealer. They can't pick it up till Tuesday. I already had the stator and harness recall done. This will be the second one. Will this ever end?

My second stator just failed, I think, after 3, I'm gonna look into lemon law, I will buy another Buell when Erik has control of the company. I do want another XB though. Just don't want to deal with this problem with no R&D going into the source of the problem.

07xb12ss - Did they replace your battery? If not they screwed something up.

I have 2300 miles on my second stator.

I had 18000 on my first stator (harness put in at 15000). It hasn't been confirmed that the second stator is dead but highway/street speeds it's 14-14.4 volts, and every stop within 20 seconds my volts drop to low 12's.

07xb12ss - That's the way it is for mine as well. Then it drops below 12 that's when I hold my breath. :-)

Yea.... see.... I ride to Austin, out in the middle of nowhere around Dallas, I like peace of mind. Harley won't come pick me up on Sunday or in the middle of the night.

Got my 1125R back today. Dealer said that the stator and VR tested fine. Said they did not know what the problem was. Gave me a new battery. This was after 6 weeks of waiting for them to get to it. Rode it home and got stuck in the worst NYC traffic there is and the temps were up to 218 and the volts were down to 12.3 at the lowest. No battery light. Got the temps down to 198 and volts up to 13.1 max after the highway opened up. Hope I do not get stuck again.

Isnt that normal? That is the way mine has been since the harness install. That was like 2000 miles ago.

No, my CR varied from high 13's to low 14's under any and all conditions pre harness and then again after the stator was replaced last month. I have HID low beam, LED tail light, don't ride with high beam. Should be pulling less current than a stock bike.

My 1125CR is in the Allen store, waiting for a new VR. It's under warranty. I'll have to think about getting a spare if that's an issue. So far, no stator issues....

Anybody with a failed stator,

Has any mode of failure been identified? In other words, was there a short/ground? Are there sections on the stator with very low resistance readings or a visibly burned/parted winding or burned insulation? Has anything like that been identified? Thanks in advance.
