2009 1125R 6000miles..... original stator!! new voltage regulator replaced 2000miles ago, charging harness about 200miles ago also I saw Zac recommended unpluging lights when stator fails to help limp home. i wonder if there is anything else to disconnect. like unplugging a couple of fuses to preserve what little battery is left? suggestions? Would anyone that has replaced the stator themselves be into doing a write up (with pics) for everyone else that has no faith in their dealer? maybe froggy or someone could make it a sticky? just some thoughts todd | ||

You can't pull the headlight fuse, the bike will not start then. You have to disconnect the headlight connector (which is also quick and easy). The tail lamp is the only other item of meaningful draw that can be disabled, not sure if pulling that fuse would work. I rode about 50 miles with my SYS VOLTAGE ERR on screen when my stator died, and that was at night with the headlights on. | ||

I removed my stator and sent it to canada to be re wound paid for it out of pocket even though my bike is under warranty. removing the cover is not that hard but important when reassembling to use the correct lock tight and recommended torque values. | ||
