I was wondering if any you guys that may live in Oklahoma City or around it, tell me which dealer would be the best one to get my bike serviced at. I'll be moving there in 2-3 months, and I want to have an idea already of where I need to take my baby. Please tell me they do decent work (if it's true). | ||

I'm originally from Moore, which is right next to OKC...I didn't have much help trying to get a Buell from any of the dealers around the city. Maybe there's better in Tulsa or the DFW area... BTW have fun at Tinker! | ||

i went down to dallas to get my cr. havent been to any dealer for service yet, but there are only two buell dealers in oklahoma, stillwater or tulsa. | ||

Yeah, but we got lotsa TORNADOES. If you haven't been through a spring in tornado alley you have NOT HAD FUN YET. Yahoo. By the way, Cycle Connection in Joplin gets good reviews. Myers Duran HD in Tulsa doesn't do Buells. The Only 4 people I know who have had service at Route 66 HD in Tulsa don't go there anymore. | ||

Harley Davidson of Dallas in Allen TX is very Buell friendly. That is where I bought my bike and get it serviced\ warranty work. Some of the salesmen\techs actually own Buells so they have a certain appreciation level for these bikes that is rare among Harley dealers. google Allen TX... it's not that far from you... its about 30~ish minutes North of Downtown Dallas. | ||

So, you're saying it's better to drive the 3-3 1/2 hours from OKC to Dallas to get work done than to pull my hair out with someone that's going to be burdened working on my Buell. If so, good advice, and thanks for the heads up and keeping me from wasting my time. | ||

in 2008, I transferred from Offutt to Tinker where I am now, and I can tell you - the OKC area is lacking curves even more than the Omaha area was! There are good places to ride, you just have to be willing to actively explore and search for them, and be flexible with your riding style. The lack of curves will either ruin your riding experience or force you to enjoy other things like long distance riding, dirt riding, etc. There are abundant curves as soon as you reach Arkansas, but that's almost four hours from OKC. There are also some good looking places to ride about 90 miles southwest near the town of Lawton, although I've never been there myself. As far as a dealer, I'd suggest you get a service manual, a decent set of tools, and learn to do it all yourself. Myself and at least one other guy in the area would be more than willing to help keep your Buell on the road. Forget about having a warranty for the small stuff, you'll save yourself a lot of headache by not ever letting an HD tech touch your Buell even if it's something that is covered by warranty. | ||

I consider myself a pretty decent mechanic, I even do mechanic work on the side from my normal job, but I'm not really willing to risk f***ing up my motor by dropping a valve shim down in the motor. I'll let dumb H/D techs do it. The end of the day, they'll have to pay for it if they jack it up. I don't want to make myself pay for it if I jack it up. I do the basics like changing oil, brakes, removing the wheels for tire changes. That's all fine and dandy, but I need somewhere to go to have like valve adjustments and warranty work done. I paid for the extended warranty and I plan on using it if you know what i mean. I don't really have a problem with harassing service managers/technicians to do their job right. If you guys want to know the secret to getting service done the right way here it is. You call, complain, and visit on an unconveniently normal basis that the service managers/technicians will do the stuff right and stay on top of your bike just so you're not in their store all of the time giving them grief. You'd be surprised how effective a little pressure is. Think about like if you were past due on a bike payment. They would call you once in a while, then they'd call you weekly, and then daily. Then you just get so tired of them calling, you'll pay it even if you can't eat for a week just as not to have to hear from them. Very effective. Another D/FW option is the dealer in Corinth or Garland. The one in Corinth is on 35 just south of Denton, or about 2.5 hours for you. | ||

I trust the guys at Route 66 HD/Buell (Tulsa). I have had them work on my bike several times. Talk to Paul the service advisor. Their Buell tech is a guy named Kerry. Tell them Drake sent you. I am approaching the 12K valve service, and will probably have them do it. They no longer deal with Buell's (obviously), but they still have people there that know what is going on.
