Thinking about making a fairing kit to relocate the radiators to vent out from the bike that would be based on the pictures i've seen of the Barracuda bodywork. I won't be able to do it for a while as i will be leaving for Afghanistan for a year next week but i just wanted to gauge what the interest might be. I know i was very interested when i saw the pics of the Barracuda but i haven't been able to find any one that makes anything similar. I don't have any skills with carbon but i was thinking i can fabricate the bodywork out of steel then see if i can find someone to make a copy of it in carbon  | ||

I am seriously thinking about reversing the air flow through the stock radiators. I will have to collect some spare bits from E-Bay first, but if nothing else it should at least send the heat outward rather then dumping it in front of the motor. I will have to have a closer look once I start getting a few pieces but I think it should be possible to keep the fans, seal them to just a portion of the rad and dump the hot air out of the rear of the pods (hopefully not roasting my knees) . I don't know if there is enough room to divert the air from the scoops to the back side of the rads or not, but we will see. | ||

Does that Flexiglas ram air scoop fit onto the stock brackets? Do you need to do anything to the radiators? | ||

IIRC The issue witrh the ram air fairings is they dont house rad fans and you will overheat in town. The F14 scoops looked awesome i thought, | ||

That's why i was thinking about fabbing my own kit. I don't see any reason why you shouldn't be able to reverse the radiators and keep the fans on the radiators... instead of blowing into the v they will suck from the v and out the vents... If you look closely at the pics of the barracuda you can see the fans in there | ||

You might want to contact E.B.R. about the Flexi-Glass RAM air panels. I was at E.B.R last week and there was talk of a kit to mount them. It takes their shop guys 5 hours to mount those panels. I'm already on the list to get them when they become available. | ||

A couple guys I know bought the Flexiglass fairings and are pretty darn unhappy with them -- not saying they're a bad product, but apparently they are a serious pain in the ass to install. Nothing is pre-drilled or fitted. It took both of them over 8 hours each to figure out a good fit, and then had bondo work to do to help correct a few mis-queues. Not amateur bike guys either - both are bike mechanics and have years of experience with fairings and the race scene. |
