Just picked up my 09cr from the dealer, get it home first thing I do is check the oil and it is over filled up to the notch in the dip stick.Phoned the dealer and talked to the tech? who worked on it yea I ran the bike for 3 min let it sit for a few min and added oil.I then had to tell him the right way to do it,next nearest dealer is 4 hrs away good thing I got 2 now.

They probably checked the level when the bike was on the side stand.

Hi, not sure about the 09CR but my owners manual for my 10CR states to check oil while it's on the side stand.

On the 08 a quick check can be done with the bike cold (sitting overnight) and on the side stand the oil should be right on the tip of the dipstick.

Here is another dealer story. I took the Uly in to my local dealer for its first service. I watched the "tech" screw around for 20 minutes trying to get the seat off. He kept going to other techs and they didn't know how to get it off either. I finally had to go back and show him how to get the seat off. Needless to say, I won't take the 1125 there either.

Randy I beg to differ with your cold check assessment. I tried it on my '08 R and ended up overfilling by about 1/2 qt. The cold check method was removed from the manual due to inconsistent results.
The more I read about Harley Dealers servicing Buell's, the more convinced I am that I will never take mine in for anything. Fortunately I wasn't planning on it anyway, in 20+ years of driving I have only taken a vehicle to a mechanic once outside of warranty issues. That was a transmission rebuild on my T-bird Turbo Coupe and I regretted spending that $800 for years. I should have bought a new tranny and put it in my self! "Teaching a man to fish" always beats the heck out of giving him a fish.
