I put my 1125 in Sunrise Harley initially seven weeks ago for the clutch "leak" and the bad speedo (warranteed). I printed out some of the threads from this forum with the part numbers, and the correct info on how to fix the problems. I had the service writer attach the printouts to my work order. After not getting any calls for over two weeks I decided to go check on the status, and I was told the parts had just arrived this morning. Wish me the best and pray to the Buell gods, that they can get it right the first time. Being that I have only owned the bike for about two months, I'm really looking forward to riding this thing.

Not sure about the speedo, but unless the "leak" was more than a weep, you should have been riding until the parts arrived.

I brought my 08 1125r for the clutch leak the second week of April and I got back on the 3rd of July. I didn't have a bike for half of the summer. I was told I couldn't ride the bike with leak. What a joke.

My dealer told me to ride it and when the parts come in they will call to schedule the weep fix.

When I initially took the bike in, the leak was just a "weep". But the mechanic must have removed the clutch cover and the weep became almost a leak. So I did ride it for a couple of days, kept putting fluid in the reservoir, but I just wasnt feeling good about it. I have another bike to ride, so I figured screw it, let it sit in their garage.

I dropped off my 08 R with no appointment at Danbury HD for my clutch leak (minor leak) back in May, bike was ready for pickup less than 24hrs later.

I had my 08 R in for warranty repairs, mid-June...clutch weep part of the repair. Parts were not available until a July 16th release. Had H-D Service put the bike back together and asked them to call me when parts arrived. I was not included in the July 16th release. Now have to wait until September 30th release. H-D may have to support Buell for 7 years...just not, well.

@Terp. Same exact scenario. You must need the same o-rings. Did the dealer also mention that "units" of parts are no longer available (HD failed to announce this tidbit in their press release). In other words, I have to purchase the puck/plunger? for $270 versus 3 cents for an o-ring. I found a different dealership that is willing to "think outside the box" in terms of Buell parts versus other available parts. This may be what it comes down to with the part shortage.

It's f.cking ridiculous how some of us are being treated with these problems. Are pre-existing problems being handled after warranty runs out? They are not fixing these stator problems when they keep failing.

What do you expect? They're taking care of their core business.

Chick,

I was told that they need the piston kit. I think they have the cover and puck. All is reportedly under warranty.

From the other clutch weep thread, I know there is most likely a liability issue; however, can't let the bike sit for the entire summer...and H-D won't let me borrow the CR they have in stock.

I top off the fluid every other week. I did strip a cover screw. Fluid must have made its way into the threads and super glued the screw. Oops.

H-D is also replacing the front brake rotor and neutral light indicator switch.

I called H-D Customer Service; however, no response.

We'll I went to check on my bike that was supposed to be done on Thursday. The guy at the counter saw me come in and said that he thought they were still waiting on one part, but I could see my bike up on a lift, with a heap of dismantelled parts laying around it. The mechanic AJ saw me also and asked me to come into the shop, so he could explain what he was doing. (I thought that was pretty cool of him). He said that HD made him order a new clutch cover, and the cover just behind it which has the water pump in it. I asked where the clutch repair kit was, and he explained that HD wanted him to replace these other parts instead, even after he explained to them, that it would not solve the issue. Of course I was not happy, but I felt he was being honest with me. I told the mechanic that I was going home to call HD customer service (414-343-4056), which I did, and he encouraged it.

I contacted HDCS and spoke to a guy named John, who listened to my whole speel. He put me on hold for 8 or 10 minutes, then came back on and said that he spoke to AJ (the tec) and that he would do a parts search to get the repair kit as soon as possible, and install it.
I found it pretty crazy that HD was telling the tec what he needed, when it should have been the other way around.
Overall I was pretty happy with the tec and the customer service guy, but we'll see how this plays out. I may not get my scoot till September now.
Thanks to you guys on this forum, I had the oportunity to go into the shop with a good understanding of what needed to be done. Sorry for the long story, but I figured I would share it, so the future folks that deal with this issue, will know what to expect.

I am a Dell certified tech, and sometimes get that from Dell when trying to obtain parts, so I learned the system good enough to say the correct things to get what I need. I agree it is stupid, but just the way the system works.

Hopefully you will get straightened out soon.

Funny you say that Froggy. The tec, AJ told me that he should have spoken with another tec there in the shop, who had just installed a clutch repair kit. He said "I should have found out how he worded the problem to HD, before hand".
