Okay, I have to measure the valve clearance that I can choose the right shim. Does anyone know how to rotate the engine and when I´m able to measure the exact clearance from each cam? Thank you! | ||

Thank you from advices, but I mean rotating the crankshaft! I know that the Service Manual is very useful but at this moment I have to only measure the clearance. I think that it is kind of simple thing, I need to know where I should check that the crankshaft and camshaft is in right position? Someone does have the SIMPLE answer I think. | ||

Clearance for each valve should be measured on the base circle of the cam. In other words, the camshaft should be spun 180 degrees from the point of highest valve lift, and checked for clearance there. | ||

To the best of my knowledge, you cannot remove the valve covers without rotating the engine down for clearance to remove the covers. Just to check the valve clearances you have to rotate the whole motor, that allows you to remove the covers. | ||

Bigblock: THANKS! That was the information that I needed. I think that the easiest way to check the clearances is move the whole mainframe which I did. There is a lot of more space to work that if you only rotate the engine in the frame. Fast1075: Thank you! Yes, we have lot of Buells here in Finland, mostly XB:s and older models. Maybe couple ten 1125R/CR. |
