I'll check again but I noticed no binding with the rotor. Of course, I pulled the rotor and re-installed it while I hd the caliper off (mostly just checking it and curiosity).
As for the stopping power, I have had a couple of emergency stops and honestly, any more brake and I would have been on my face. The front tire was at the edge of losing grip and I still had brake to go. My other bike has an RC-51 brake/rotor/wheel on it and it comes nowhere near the stopping power of the Buell. |

It's the only thing i hate about my bike, all my friends have ridden it too and hate the brakes, i just dont get it !!!!!! |

If you've swapped out the caliper, master cylinder, pads and rotors, the only thing left is the brake line and maybe better fluid. If you've got a weak front brake, I'd suspect the line first anyway after bleeding or changing the fluid. The other parts usually don't "give" much unless the seals are going out and you'd see leakage there if it were really that bad. A brake line on the other hand, it may swell just enough to make it feel "soft" but not actually show any other signs. On a side note, steel braided lines normally don't do that.
The stock ZTL2 setup is enough to do stoppies all day long, it will _easily_ lift the rear tire off the ground at pretty much any time, with just 2 fingers. I didn't notice any fade until the 4th session at a trackday, even then it was manageable. |

The fade has gone now since going with the DOT5.1 fluid, the brakes work when pulling the lever really hard, the lever now never feels soft since the Nissin MC.
My problem is initial/progressive bite. On Sunday i jumped on my mates GSXR 750 which has the same MC as i now have, his brakes were superb, on the first pull my nuts smacked the tank !!! This is what i think the brakes should be like on all modern bikes. My 2008 ZX6R was the same as the GSXR's
I have a 2003 fazer 600 as a commuter hack, the Buell's brakes are nearly the same as this except when pulled from 120mph+ they are better, and thats only since the MC change.
My head tells me it's because of this binding issue. |
