Very cool indeed. Thanks for sharing.

How did Chase do? Was he in the Daytona Sportbike Class?

He was in the Daytona Class, yes. He came in about mid-pack but I can't remember exactly what placement. It was his first time at Seca and its not an easy track.

I know Chase is also just returning from a serious injury. Nice job by all the riders!

I snapped a couple pics of them too. Everyone I talked to was pretty willing to let me bend their ear for a few minutes when I told them I rode a CR.

Right after the race. Bike was still hot.

He still let me and the GF play racer though

Didn't get to talk to Higbee. He zoomed off on the pitbike after he got out of his leathers. I did talk to the guy in the background for a couple minutes though.

The superbikes. They looked pretty busy prepping for the race so I didn't bother them too much.

That is a sweet rotor! And is that an air scoop for the caliper?!?

I was working turn 10 and kept a close eye on all of the 1125s. Going into T11, you get a pretty good sense for how each bike stacks up against the rest and in Superbike, the Buell didn't do to badly. It was able to keep right in there.

Wasn't quite as entertaining as the SuperDuke that would wheelie up the T5-T6 straight every lap in the charity race but it definitely performed better.

I heard that there is a kit, that would include the new front exhausts that come straight down, and then you can order the radiators that are in the front, etc. REX

I've been interested in reproducing the Erik Buell Racing Racing bike too complete with fairing and radiators but have decided to keep my 09 CR stock except for maybe a pipe and tuning enhancement. They only made 3100 hundred of them or so, they are fairly rare for a Buell. JMHO.

I can't speak to the rotor -- that's a new one for me.

But the caliper is probably the ZTL 2.5. Fot thhat, Erik Buell Racing puts a regular ZTL2 in the mill and machines additional cooling paths into the caliper among other things.

I do love the Buell front brake, but being a single rotor and perimeter mounted, the thing generates a TON of heat at race pace.

I think he's talking about the venting duct that is attached to the lower fork leg in the last pic.

"That is a sweet rotor! And is that an air scoop for the caliper?!?"

Maybe this setup is ZTL3?

The scoop looks like a casting, not like a one-off, and the rotor looks like it could be ventilated or a "sandwich" construction... (or the photo just makes it look dark in the centre)...

Those are classic pics and you should be proud to own them!

Regarding the ZTL 2.5 brakes, Geoff May told my friend Chase McFarland, who told his Dad, Dennis McFarland, who told me that...

the ZTL braking system will probably be phased out in the new Buell street bikes.

Too many problems with it for race track use. The outside of the rotor is moving so fast, and is so hot, that it literally STRETCHES the brake pads! They ELONGATE under all the forces being put on them!

However, seems like a good street brake set-up and I like my ZTL 2 arrangement just fine. It has it's quirks, but I like it.
