I called jet hot today. They want $140 to coat the headers. I already have the frame off the bike, so it would be fairly easy for me to remove the headers and have them coated. My question is does it really help? I don't mind spending the money, but i want to make sure it is worth it. I am also going to insulate the new frame i put in. | ||

"I already have the frame off the bike" I know that is "an accurate statement" but it still throws me for a second every time I read it. To answer your question though, those types of coatings significantly reduce heat loss through the headers, which not only reduces the heat being transmitted to your leg, but keeps the exhaust gases at a higher velocity inside the header. I think it would be worth doing, if you're willing to spend the money. | ||

Ceramic coating is the miracle of our time. I had an expansion chamber on a four wheeler coated with ceramic and it was cool to the touch after running the bike for 30 minutes. I have no doubt that it'll "cool down" your headers. It's worth every penny IMHO. | ||

It's a drummer. I had the midpipe coated as well. Also, I have the DB killer since I'm not looking for just straight numbers and I'd like to keep it a little quieter around the neighborhood. Looks great, sounds great. | ||

Our turbo dragbike would have the headers orange-hot in the traps...yet be cool enough to touch by the time you towed it back to the pits...maybe 6 to 8 minutes after the pass....and the coating still looked new after years of service. | ||

Devin, Coated looks so much better then a wrap and dose the same thing. I coated my whole stock system and it looks fantastic! Just my opinion.  | ||

Dktechguy112, When you do it, do it for the looks, the performance is so less, that going to the toilet before you take the bike is even a better solution. | ||

I don't think it's going to give you a huge HP gain, but as for the question that was asked about whether coatings help I'd have to offer the anecdotal evidence that after I coated the headers I noticed less head coming off the frame after long rides as well. I'd definitely say the coatings were helpful. | ||

It was either the coating or my bike magically started running cooler after changing the headers out for coated ones with no other changes. Again, notice I said less heat coming off the frame. It's not like I went from 200+ coolant temps to 170+, it's that I wasn't being slowly cooked by the frame. | ||
