Hey..
Has anyone else been using the AGIP 10w60 Race Oil? Full synthetic, motorcycle specific.

It's used alot over in Europe, and is used in several KTM and Aprilia race paddocks (use Rotax engines just like us). My local shop's lead mechanic used to be on the KTM team and recommends it heartily.

I put it in at the first oil change, and am going to do a second oil change shortly at about 6000 km (5000 km after first service). I was very surprised at how much smoother the bike shifted after the change.

BigE.

That's the OEM oil for my MV Agusta Brutale 910S. I am going to switch to Amsoil 20W-50 at the next oil change and send samples of both to Blackstone Labs for an oil analysis. This will let me know which oil is better suited to my specific application.

The important thing to remember, however, is to always use an oil that meets the viscosity, class, and rating specified by the manufacturer. My bike is approved for both 10W-60 and 20w-50... make sure yours is too.

Redbuelljunkie - I was just about to post that the AGIP 10w60 is exactly what is specified for my MV Agusta F4 1000R. That stuff is pretty hard to find without ordering, and it is hella expensive too.

I also agree with you that whatever oil meets the API and similar ratings outlined in your manual is what you should use. I've read good things about the Mobil 1 20w-50 (Motorcycle version) and that's what I've been using. Please post the results of your oil analysis, I would be very interested.

Thanks

Jeff

I found the AGIP 10w60 on line at a place in SC, Refined Performance Motorsports, came to about about $12 a liter including freight (comes in a case of 12 liters). For my Moto Guzzi, that is. My Guzzi dealer stocks and recommends Motorex 10w60, says it's an even higher spec. I'm still using Mobil 1 in the 1125R, though.
