I have been running a Jardine exhaust on my 1125 for about 9 months. The Jardine exhaust has two major issues, one intentional and one a poor design problem. The intentional problem (certainly preferential) - the exhaust system is too loud - especially at idle. Not much I can do about that one, but the second issue I was forced to deal with was the discoloration of the swing arm. The Jardine muffler expels the hot gases directly back to the swing arm causing discoloration (most likely is not helping the cooling of the rear brake rotor either). If you have not heard from customers yet, you may in the future. I have been cleaning the swing arm periodically and may have reached a point at which the carbon and discolored coating will not return to its original color - I will know that this weekend when I wash the bike.

In order to stop this from happening, I first contacted Jardine and asked if they had a solution (could have been easy for them to redesign the end piece). They chose to blame it on the way the engine was running - claiming it was running too rich, an approach that only a second rate company with designs on maintaining that status should employ. I needed to do something fast and designed something quick and easy and thought you may want to see the fix.

I simply ordered a U-pipe, steel used for roll bars, not thin exhaust pipe. (See the attached pictures) Made two cuts one with a larger angle, one shorter just to see which worked the best. Tried them both out for aesthetics and gas removal. Brazed the best one into the tail piece of the muffler, painted and mounted. Total cost; about $20 for the pipe and $20 for labor to cut and weld.

Looks good man.

Sounds like Jardine kind of has a bad attitude.

FWIW I have the Erik Buell Racing ecm with the lowered idle and it totally eliminates the helicopter sound.
