I own two tube frame Buells. Demo'd the R & CR a few times. Been watching an 09' 1125R with under 1K miles at my local dealer. It has the full lower fairings on it. The listed price was $8999, the dealer went down to $7500. Is that a good price or should I hold out for a lower price? The lower fairing kit looked a little flimsy, is it? Does it scratch the normal cowl on the bat wings? How have you guys enjoyed your 1125's?

Well if you bought an R or CR prior to the ax being dropped you would've paid >11k for it, so you could look at it that way.

I bought my '09R immediately after the announcement and rebates, not much over $6K OTD since I insisted on the white/blue one fresh out of the crate. Hold out for cheaper than $7,500 ... Maybe, at the risk of losing it to someone else. I would happily pay 7 1/2 for my '09R - I've owned many bikes (mostly H-D products) and these is easily my favorite. I can't stay off the damn thing ; )

Thanks guys, I'll keep an eye on it. I'm wondering if it qualifies for the 1% financing HD is offering? I think it is only for the XR1200 & a few others....

Another question. How do those full lower fairings mount? Are they just a bolt on over the bat wings? Do the bat wing covers have to come off? How do you think parts and service for the engine will fair in a few years?

Bsanorton - are these the side fairings on the bike you're watching?

If so, these are the Buell "factory" side panels that retailed for around $500 or so and came out in 2009. I got mine with the -0-mile bike after the rebate for $7400 OTD. They come with mounting hardware that adds 2 brackets on the lower engine cases and a spacer and longer bolt for the upper mounting position on the OEM fairing stay. The only cheesy part is the self-adhesive velcro holding the 2 side fairing pieces (which bolt together) under the OEM upper. I've had it up to 130 or so without any problems, and I notice no change in operating temperature so I think it is well designed. The spacers keep it off of the OEM pods so nothing touches and nothing looks different if you take them off except the brackets on the lower part that use the stock engine case bolts to mount.

I like the look and call him "Darth Maul". IMHO $7500 OTD would be OK for a <1K mile bike with these fairings. When is the in-service date (how much warranty is left) and does anything else come with the bike?

If you can get one for that price with less than 1K you better jump.

Not knowing anything about the 1125's you have ridden, it's hard to gauge how relevant your demo experience was. I first rode an '08 R the summer of '08 and was unimpressed. But the bike had 3 miles on it and did not have any of the newer ECM flashes. I was used to riding a Kaw KZ 750 and thought the XB 1200's were much more entertaining then the 1125R. I also didn't like the R pegs being so high and far back relative to my Kaw. But I could not pass on the rebates Harley put on these bikes after announcing the closing. I paid $7,100 for my brand new '08 1125R in December of '09 and I could not be happier. With the latest ECM flash this bike is an animal and will bite you if you don't treat it with respect. The biggest trick is keeping the front end down on really hard acceleration. But at the same time it is an easy bike to ride hard. Now that I am used to the riding position, when I get on my Kaw I feel like I am riding a bike with ape hangers. The R's riding position feels so much more capable and agile and quite comfortable. As far as the price is concerned, like anything else it is worth whatever someone is willing to pay for it. IMO it is a helluva lot of bike for $8k. Also, there is another recent thread stating that Harley will not offer the 1% on the Buells.

Well, I called my friend at the sister dealer. He is a Buell freak & we met a couple of years ago when I pulled up on my S3T at the dealer. He said he can pull it over for me. He's an honest guy (never pressured me into a sale) & looked it up. He said they own it for $7K. It also is considered used (800 miles) so does not qualify for the 1% interest rate. He also said I should get the extended warranty as he is seeing a lot of little things go wrong with the 1125 (he remarked, we as Buell owners are used to it though, LOL), but mentioned I could get the same price on the extended warranty at any time during it's current warranty (2 years, unlimited miles? Not sure what is left). He said it's too much of a bike for him, but I'm interested in it. If a dealer owns it for $7 would they let it go for that? I didn't want to haggle with him yet....

Is there anything else I can ask them to throw into the deal or fees not to charge me? What does a typical extended warranty cost?

If you want it , then grab it. They're getting harder and harder to find. IfI had the scratch, I'd give 7500 in a blink. I got mine around 6400 OTD, but as much as I love it I'd give the extra to have a second.

What about getting an extended warranty on the bike and what is the cost? I'm pretty good doing most repairs & maintenance myself, but not too familiar with the helicon motor. Do you really think HD owns it for $7K? With all the lower prices you guys are quoting it seems to me that if they took this on a trade they would not pay near $7K.

Now that is a beautiful 1125! Those lower fairings really make the lines of the bike flow!!! Why the hell are you selling after you put so many nice touches on it?
