Will they interchange? Can I use it? Its in the for sale ads and its from an 08 and I want to use it on my 09.

It didn't work on my bike, unless you swapp injectors on the 09, for a set of 08.

You can always have them flash it to match your bike. I think maybe $25 to have it flashed? Otherwise, yes, it's physically identical. The 09 injectors helped on the low end for mine.

Just send them an email, that's the best source, you'll get conflicting info here based on different peoples' different experiences.

When I asked they said there's no difference in the map on an 08 E B R ECM from a 09, I'm running their 1125CR(09) ECM in my 08 1125R as they recommended for the past 4 months, with no injector change needed per them, only difference is in the gearing from the R to CR since I swapped my swingarm. Of course, if you go to their website, you can also see there is no 08 versus 09+ option on the 1125R ECMs.

The injector change from 08 to 09 is minimal according to them and not necessary, it cleans up emissions and adds a little smoothness to the lower end, as Dean mentions.

I'll paste in their original email response to me when I first asked, follow up on the injectors they offer has been that it's completely optional and only very slight improvements will be gained in low end smoothness & emissions, but again, just shoot 'em an email, they're responsive & no one knows the answers like them.

And +1 on Dean's point, I plan on sending mine back for his exhaust tune when available & I can afford to do his exhaust this fall.

Dave,
Yes, that is the only difference, to make the speedometer read correctly with the different gearing. So an R with CR gearing should get a CR ECM if you want correct speedometer readings.

Thank you,

Subject: ECM
I have a 2008 1125R, I just got a CR swingarm, sprocket, etc., to convert to the CR gearing. Should I order the ECM for the CR then versus the R? Is the difference to account for the gearing only?

Thanks & can’t wait to order & install. All the best to Erik Buell Racing!

Dave.

Another note for the low end improvements. Just for fun, I ran it up to 6th gear and then let it idle down as low as I felt it would go without causing problems. Believe it or not, you CAN do 37 mph in 6th, which is about 2000 rpm or so, maybe 2100. Essentially it's almost idling at that point, but it can be done and not throw you off the bike. It was just a bit rough taking off from there, but if you gently roll into it, it starts pulling harder by 2300-2500 rpm and is pretty smooth by that point. It's not designed to do that, but it will and not complain about it like the stock ecm does.
