Looks like a lot has been added to the site last time I looked. Lots of new ECM's for lots of exhausts. Look at the take off parts for cheap stuff if you crash yours. $36 for LED tail light, that's cheaper than I paid for mine even with the 15% off I got.

You know, I seriously wondered if that would happen. I would get the Race ECM for pump gas and they would release one just after I got it for use with the Drummer.

Anyone else "disappointed" that they seem to have endorsed HMF as their slip-on choice? I mean, it isn't that I don't like the HMF...but I REALLY wanted a kick butt Erik Buell Racing option.

Avc, what makes you say that they have endorsed HMF as slip-on of choice? Just wondering since I have not seen any product endorsements, and was even told "we do not recommend products from specific manufacturers" when I asked them which slip-on yielded best results.

Ponti,
I was basing that on the fact that they SELL the HMF slip on in both black and aluminum. I assumed they wouldn't sell something they didn't endorse.

Just a guess on my part, but I would imagine they will sell any performance part that makes them at least a little money, that's one of the reasons you're in business, isn't it?

Avc, thanks for the info...I had not seen that they were now selling HMF. I don't know about official endorsement, but I would tend to agree that it is definitely implied at least.

One thing to consider about their racing ECM guys is; I bought one of their first generic (any brand of slip on) ECM's but I specifically told them what size head pipe I was using (length and diameter), and what type of muffler I was using as well as the overall length of the whole system. I made my own system and am exceptionally pleased with the results and the new ECM. I did send the one I bought back to them but just to have the idle lowered. Michael did say, when the returned it, they found some additional H.P. and were incorporating it in all their new ones. It has made a huge improvement in my bikes performance. I don't know exactly what they do to custom design an ECM for a specific system but I believe they will all be just fine. And with these custom units they are showing a total commitment to their customers. GO Erik Buell Racing! Bob

For anyone curious, I emailed Erik Buell Racing and they replied and said that if you return your race ECM and a check for $35 (25 for flash and 10 for shipping), and your return address and a note telling them what you want, they will reflash your ECM with whichever flash you need.. for the people that got the ECMs and have an exhaust that now has its own version.

The hmf was my option as I was told by Michael that for a slipon the hmf tested the best results. His exact words was that the stock primaries choke the bike from making higher rpm power .The stock headers is the limiting factor. And he stated the hmf downpipe showed better gains over other slipons.

This is what I was told . I'm not referring that the hmf is the pipe to have. There is plenty of pipes to choose from . But when a tuner tells me that the hmf is the best overall slipon he's seen power potental wise. That'll be the one I choose.I have 2 k on mine and really like it. And the price of a hmf is very reasonable.

The HMF is LOUD. I don't know how loud compared to some of the other slip-ons, but it is loud. I bought a decent sound meter and checked mine 3 ft and 45 degree angle from the pipe exit and it tested at 100dB AT IDLE. It does sound good, but in my opinion, it is embarrassing loud for the street and this pipe is marketed as their "Street Series". I have only put 50 miles on it and will be pulling it off and putting the OEM back on. I wish someone made a decent sounding pipe that wasn't really loud.

I thought HMF was loud also, but no scientific or electronic measurement to offer. I think the D&D is the loudest, followed by Jardine, then probably the HMF in a close third. From listening to all the bikes at Homecoming, I sorta thought the FMF was one of the more reasonable in terms of both volume and pitch.

Pitch, by the way, is IMO as key a factor in how annoying the sound may be to the observer. A few at Homecoming were not necessarily louder than others, but just gave off a certain pitch that made me think "I wish that would stop".

Ponti,

I think is is commonly agreed that the D&D is pretty much the class leader in aftermarket volume (noise).

Before I bought the HMF many months back, I did some forum research and the posts seemed to indicate the HMF was thought to be a bit quieter than the Jardine and FMF, which is why I went with HMF.

I totally agree that volume isn't everything and pitch is very important, but alas... I think we are jacking the thread...

Just another interesting fact, I myself could not get the time to make it to homecoming but did my snooping around facebook at pictures(which were awesome). I happen to notice that the race setup 1125R on sale there had the HMF exhaust. I questioned this myself, thinking why wouldn't they just use the Erik Buell Racing exhaust. Makes sense now I guess.

I'm not sure if that guy is a member here but he also took a picture of the price tag being discounted to $9,500.00

After further review the barkers and drummer are darn good as well. All have different torque curves, but peak power is similar. Select based on your budget and styling preference. Haven't finished with the KD slip ons yet, but initially the RT4 did well.

It's me, but I don't want to get pounded with even more email.

Dean,
Maybe YOU could have been the supplier for Erik Buell Racing slip ons.

I was hoping Erik Buell Racing would come out with their own branded, sweet looking slip on. Oh well.

The KD Bass note makes me happy to listen to it.

Of all the youtube 1125 exhausts I have heard KD has the most bass. To those who have or heard a KD muffler, does the KD have more of a deep rumble?

I have the RT-1 and I've heard the FMF, HMF, Drummer and maybe another or two on 1125s. The RT-1 BY FAR sounds the best IMO. It is deeper, mellower (is that a word?) and much, much more sheeple and police friendly at idle and lower RPMs. I already have loud-ass Harleys and wanted my Buell to be just a little less aggressive sound-wise and that is what the RT-1 is.

I've noticed more cagers do not "see" me on my quiet Buell (with stock exhaust) as compared to my louder bikes. The RT-1 should help in that area while not even being noticed by my neighbors that much. Many of the other pipes I've heard on the 1125s are obnoxious and higher pitched. Some have the "helicopter" sound also, which I think just doesn't sound right.

FMF= Farts, More Farts.

RT-3= Really Terrifying X3.

The FMF sounds good but is higher pitched and gets a little louder at cruise.

The RT-3 is louder at idle, and thoughout the rev range, with a deeper in your chest thump. Seems to mellow out at cruise.

Both are loud at WOT but again FMF is higher pitched, more helicopter.

All the positive reviews convinced me.

FMF , Farts more Farts. I like my FMF Slip-on. That would explain all the extra power, Fart = Methane . I need all the power I can get.
