I notice that after about 15 mins, my right hand goes numb, I hold the clutch & shake the right hand out for about 20 secs & it's OK, then the same cycle again.

Left hand is fine. I paid attention to make sure I wasn't getting it from leaving my finger on the front brake lever while cruising & getting the vibe.

Anyone get a micro-vibe in one grip or experience this? I could try gel grips I guess, but I tried those in the past on my R1 & hated the squishy feel & took them off.

I have had some soreness and numbing. I changed to a Progrip gel from the Traction grips. I'll post back how they are when I get a chance to test. Also got a pair of gel gloves.

Me too. I have the Traction Grips. I ordered some new gloves ... maybe that will help ... Throttle lock would be nice too!

You may be leaning with too much of your weight on the bars. Your body should be supporting your weight, not your hands.

Bar-end mirrors help quell the vibes quite a bit and provide a decent view.

Froggy - I agree completely with body weight off the bars.

I experience this numbing myself whenever I forget that my core muscles determine the amount of comfort I will have on a sport bike.

Bar end weights help. There's the Throttlemeister (which is also a throttle lock), and the Vibranators (? something like that) that aren't a throttle lock.

But double check to make sure you're not putting weight on your wrists.

A good test is to flap like a chicken while riding - if you can, your wrists are unweighted. If your arms are locked up, you've got too much weight on them.

I'd say you need to address your riding position. I know if I'm being lazy and put weight on my hands, specifically my right, it will go numb. I'll catch it and correct my position and no more numbness.

On the track it happens no matter what, but the vibrations through the bars are pretty substantial at high revs for 20 minutes at a time. been thinking of getting some bar ends to help that. I also grip the bars too hard while racing, and that's a notable problem I'm working on.

Try keeping your arms more parallel with the bike rather than perpendicular. That will help.

Froggy said what I was going to say. The first couple of hundred miles on my '09R ... Hands tingly and eventually numb. After focusing on keeping weight off my wrist (using legs and midsection instead), it went away ... Reference old-school advice of 'should be able to flap arms like a chicken at any time' ; ) I oftentimes ride without gloves, and it's good like that or with the non-expensive Joe Rocket summer gloves I ride with.

It's both weight on your hands and the vibrations. I cured both by using the Throttlemeister and Convertibars. Even with the Convertibars I had to adjust them for the right angle (for me). That adjustment is one of the REALLY nice features of the Convertibars.

numb feeling here. my remedy is to squeeze to bike with my legs and hold my weight up that way. i also noticed that i only feel numb right hand when i think "wow my hand's not numb."

I found that arching my back and using the tank to hold myself up helps more than you would know, just be sure to kinda stand on pegs when going over bumps or youll feel like your in the nut cracker!

+! for reduce the weight on your hands...Take yer gloves off and I bet you see an improvement too. Try THIN gloves, not more padding.

I have spent 10+ hours in the saddle on the 1125r on several occasions. There are 2 things that I have found that will make your hands go numb:

First and most important was mentioned by Froggy, you HAVE to keep your weight in your legs and mid to do the distance.

The second can be a set of gloves that are to small, you will find that due to vibration and other things, your hands will swell; if your gloves fit just right, after a hour or 2 you may find they don't fit at all.

I know about the weight positioning, I owned about every model of liter sportbike since '87, and know that deal, you're absolutely right, the first thing I played with was making sure I wasn't laying on the bike and weighting my arms.

I've been playing with it this week, I'm as loose on my arms as can be, I've tried lighter and firmer grip, made sure I didn't have a lazy finger on the brake lever. I don't know.....I have a good set of Kevlar gloves and it's the same on or off, and it's only the right hand, the left hand never has a prob.
I may try grips, maybe I can save money, I only need one for the right side. LoL

Well, for me i noticed the same problem when i purchased a throttle rocker to give my had a rest. The opposite actually occurred though, I had the worst numbing after i installed it. There seems to be an very high frequency vibration and if I don't grip the bars firmly, ie, using the throttle rocker, then it kills my right hand. Never have trouble with the left. Installed the Throttle meister, and it's better, but I can't seem to get the bike to hold speed well for some reason, and yes i followed their instructions:-), but the vibration problem is gone.

A nice set of padded grips and a $10 set of bar end weights fixed that problem for me. Less than $30 total with tax.

Throttlemeister bar-ends allow you to take your right hand off the bar from time to time and shake it out. Works WONDERS.
