2009 Buell 1125r Barker and Erik Buell Racing Ecm
After Erik Buell Racing dynoed my bike and tuned it i had the wiring harness recall done.
First oh no 150 miles after recall upgrade
Riding at night see tach all the sudden drop than go black. pull over a few miles later and it comes back on(when it drops to idle) and works fine.(turned off check codes lose of communication code)

Two days later leaving for a ride electrical failure come on in cluster(tach drop cluster light goes out) turn key off and back on while coasting re start (checked volts charging at 17 drops to 13 after a minute or two) fine for the rest of the day 4-5 restarts 100 ish miles.

Today start bike leave get a half mile from house and tach drops cluster lights out electrical malfunction displayed in cluster cannot scroll no turn signals.(in a hurry continue to ride 13 miles no speed no tach no turns) 3rd stop idling at a stop light tach begins to work scroll to charging it is a 17 volts after a few minutes drops to 13.4
stop restart rides home fine

Any tips is this a stator ?
Regulator or something completely different

You're the mechanic dude! JK. Sounds like the regulator, you should never see the voltage go nearly that high, or much over low 14V. I'd venture to guess they foobar'd the harness installing, which toasted the regulator. Seems pretty common with some of the Harley technicians from what I've read from others.

my bike did the EXACT same symptoms. harley couldnt figure it out because it is intermittent, leaves no electrical fault code and all symptoms resolve when at idle for a few seconds.... voltage regultaor i purchased myself, fixed it.... about 800miles ago

thanks tbowdre and yes i am a mechanic and hate the fact i can't trust anyone to do warranty work.
I may do some checking on a voltage regulator tomorrow.
Does anyone have the paper work(instuctions for the recall harness so i can see if they fed it up i moved a wire that was pinch between the head and frame .
