I just returned from a fabulous ride in Utah and was shocked to see cords showing! Holy Smokes, 2247 miles is a little too short of a tire life for me. What gives? This bike hasn't been to the track but I did some serious twisties on Hwy 12 just south of Torrey, UT.

That's normal for a Corsa 3. I have read several posts of people getting far less mileage than that. If you want a high mileage tire, try a PR2.

After the remaining stock is used up, there are no more Corsa III tires being made....the "replacement" is a Diablo Rosso Corsa....not to be confused with a Diablo Rosso....I just replaced the rear tire on my bike (CorsaIII) at just over 4k miles...I found another Corsa III...they are excellent for aggressive riding...when this tire wears out I will use Pirelli Angel ST....

Mine was done by 1600, switched to Michelin Road 2 something or other. Work well, gonna last a lot longer. Dual compound stuff.

My rear at 1,750 is showing wear down the middle. I run a lot of twisty roads, but my chicken strips and drag racing background probably aren't stressing the rubber by the rim nearly as much as that in the middle!

I ordered a set of Michelin Pilot Power 2CT the other day, just because I couldn't pass up getting both delivered to my house for $180 a set. So when my OEM Corsa is ready for the pile, I'm set.

my corsa III lasted me about 3500 miles but a fair bit of that was winter riding so no hard riding. I have pilot pures on now but due to the clutch problem i had I only have 100 miles on so far. they feel good tho so far

So...buy a new one's, the Corsa III's are listed as "Hypersport" tires.
The trade off is grip vs. wear. Get the Diablo Strada next time if you usually tour around, they will last longer.

Yea, 2200 miles is about twice as long as I get out of one on the street, so I'd say you did just fine!

PP2CT right now are dirt cheap. They aren't as good on the track as the Corsa III, but looking at your rear tire's wear pattern, I'm going to suggest them because they are 1) remarkably inexpensive right now, and 2) pretty darn good tires, to boot! Certainly just fine for the street.

Speaking of touring around, I'm planning a future trip of around 8,500 miles. Any opinions on tires that will make the trip?

I've seen the Pirelli Strada's and Metzeler Z6's talked about a lot on this board. Anyone know if they'll last?

Other suggestions? Not sure I could make it past FL from here(Houston) on the Pirelli Diablo Supercorsa SP's I've got on there now. : )

I would take the pp 2ct on the track over the corsa iii any day. Where are the 2cts $180 shipped for a set? The best I've seen is $230 shipped.

forerunner,
i just got Michelin pilot road 2 on the back and i love it. The other tire i was considering was a pirelli angel, both are great tires that should be able to last 8500 miles depending on your riding style.

I only got 1600 miles out of my first set, but i'm a lard a$$ and the CR was my first bike......so there was plenty of chicken strip left, just none in the center.

I got over 5000 out of my corsa 111. I ride hard. I commute.I take twisty roads over slab when I'm not pressed for time. I check tire pressure every morning! I went to a diablo rosso and got 7000 and then a
Strada got over 9000 miles out of it .two days ago put a angle st on it. What's wierd is those numbers still don't add up to the millage on odometer?!?!

Flesh, not sure if the place is a sponsor here, so I'll not advertise where I found the PP 2CT at those prices. I got the info on another Buell board, and used an unadvertised order code to know it down to $180'ish. Shoot me an email and I'll send the details ...

I can’t remember where I saw it, but I definitely remember reading that the Corsa III’s had a variable compound to provide longer wear in the middle of the tire and more grip on the edges. I have 2100 on my ‘08R and can see a significant wear pattern down the center of the rear tire. Most of my miles are commuting in a straight line and I would like to find a tire that had an even greater variation between the compound down the center and at the edges. My experience with tires on my other bikes is that the Continental’s have good longevity.

DKtech,

Thanks for the Michelin tip. I hadn't even thought about those.

I got 8,600 miles out of the stock Dunlops on my XB so I'm thinking those Michelins will last my 8500-9k mile trip. : )

i burned my first diablo corsa at like 3k miles. second 7k. 3rd tire was a rosso (it was cheap). It lasted all of 3k miles. the diablo rosso I have now is looking to be a good mix of dual compound and affordability.
