Stock or piped throw up a YouTube link if you like

I'd have to say my favorite would be a piped RC-51
then a piped cross plane yamaha R1, then the 1125 stock or piped

I don't have YouTube links yet as I am posting this on my phone but I'll get some of my favs up

Honda 250 6 cylinder, MV Agusta 3 and 4 cylinder race bikes. Anything recent/modern sounds dull in comparison to being near any of these when they start up!

The four stack Ariel Square Four. With the mufflers removed these bikes had the sweetest sound. With only a little over 40 hp these 1000 cc, 500 pounders had pitiful performance compared to todays scoots. But the Earth would shake when they went by.

#1 - Piped RC51. Those gear driven cams make a lovely sound just off idle

#2 - 98 VFR with a quill exhaust. Sounds like a small-block V-8.

#3 - ANY single cylinder board tracker with a megaphone. That is a sound I will never forget.

Honestly, and I am serious; my 1125R with the HPE race exhaust is by far the horniest sounding bike I have ever heard.

Women run and children cry, the world is ending and then I let out the clutch and pull away from idle. I wish I was kidding.

PS. After I installed the EB R Ecm it has a much more tolerable bark (Db wise) which I am thankful for.

98-99 VFR with any aftermarket pipe. Mine had a Micron. Very close tie with a new R1 w/ Two Brothers pipes...

The Triumph Daytona 675. Not only is the exhaust note pure sex, the motor has a high pitched whine that sounds kind of like gear driven cams. (They're not, though.)

Also, the motor is buttery smooth so it encourages being ridden a gear too low, which means even more great sound to listen to.

Tman - That is a great sounding exhaust, very deep, good bass tone.

This one is climbing the charts for me, something about the V-four that sounds a little different.

Of course I love my Speed Triple- triples make a 'groan' that really sounds like some kind of animal or living thing.

As far as bikes that I don't own, (yet) the sound of V4 motors like VFRs and VMaxes with nice pipes on them always makes the hair on the back of my neck stand up when they go by.

Flame is you like, but nothing like an HD V-twin on fuel (nitro) at 200+ mph at Bonneville. Pure earth shattering sound and something you can hear from a mile away when at speed. Gotta hear it in person though. Bob

I got to hear an RC-166 run in person once...awsome...I would also add the sound of Don Vesco's old double TZ750 streamliner, a double H2 dragbike I saw once, any CBX at speed....ok I don't really have a favourite...there are too many categories...my old dragbike in the traps at 12,400 with the nitrous at 100% sounded sweet....but I'm prejudiced....

Back in the '80's Dr. John Wittner of Moto-Guzzi fame club-raced a Sportster powered bike. He'd start warming that thing up at six AM and wake everybody camping at the track but nobody ever complained. Don't know what he had in that but it was a sweet sound. And I don't even like Sportsters!

When I was a kid I occasionally rode with my Dad on his 1972 Kawasaki(500 cc., three cylinder, two stroke). According to him it was the fastest production motorcycle in '72. I will never forget the demonic whinnnnn na na na exhaust note. I am looking forward to my '08 R with a pipe. From a manufacturers stand point, I would give the Ducati the crown for best mfg exhaust note.

Clk92, I'm pretty sure your Dad is right. Kawi created a revolution with that bike, the Mach III, preproduction they had a huge challenge in keeping the center cylinder from burning up, they got that sorted & it was the beast of beasts back then. I believe it was rated at like 60hp, which was a ton for a street bike at that time.

As for sound, I love riding my sons KTM 105SX 2smoke, it's our only 2smoke now & the sound of winding that up takes 20yrs off my age everytime & puts a grin on my face, I'm a kid again when I hear it.

- Definitely the race version of the R1 Cross Plane. Make me feel a little funny!
- RZ350 with chambers going through the gears at redline...miss the smell of 2 smoke!
- Ducati 998 with race termi's. I never get tired of listening to the pipes in concert with the dry clutch;
- My HMF 1125r...I set off a car alarm the other day at idle...

Any Ducati 916/996/999/etc with Termis.
Honda RC51 with full Jardine.
Suzuki TLR with full M4.
Honda Valkyrie with full 6-into-6 exhaust. DAMN it sounded badass.

My SV650 with Full Micron exhaust. : )

Are you seeing at trend (except for the Honda)?

I always liked the sound of the BMW race bikes of the BOTT in the mid 80's. Talk about deep bass, off the gas entering the infield at Pocono and then getting on the throttle pulling out of the corner.

Also the Honda FWS1000. They sounded good against the background of GP strokers.

XB with a latus pipe hands down best sounding pipe ever. This is not my vid and it does little justice to how awesome it sounds but you get the idea. about 30 seconds into the vid I cant help but grin.
