Has anyone tried installing 1 1/8" dirt bike style handle bars on an 1125 CR with out the longer cables? Looks like if you don't go with too tall of a bar the cables will be long enough. Anyone try this yet by any chance?

I have installed the high bars, and the main reason you need the longer cables is that the clubmans are a lot farther forward then the highbars. If you install dirtbike bars, they are also going to be far back just like the highbars. But if you have a set lying around, mock it up and see if it works. you can unscrew the master cylinders and pop off the throttle and see if they work. Those three are the only cables that will have clearance issues, all the control cables don't have clearance issues if you route them properly.

I mounted Rizoma taper bars with all the other parts from the high bar kit. Love 'em.

The only thing I can think that you would have to change besides the cables would be either A. Drill a hole in the new bars for the nubs on the switchs or B. Grind the nibs off

I put a MX 1 1/8" KTM handlebar on my CR.
You definitely need the longer cables as supplied for the High-bar. I used the longer trottle cables and had made the clutch and brake line to length because of the radial pumps I fitted. Also drill holes for the nubs or cut the nubs away.

It looks strange without the clubmans.

The high bars on the CR make a huge difference in comfort and feel, especially if you are tall. Lowered footpegs also help a lot.

Even with the factory high bars and throttle cables, there still isn't a 1/4 inch of slack in the cables, so the bars have to be set carefully and aftermarket bars may not even work with the "longer" cables.

Aftermarket bars work great with the highbar kit cables...Rizomas do...I've seen Renthal installations too.

Put the 2" lower pegs on tonight. I already had the high bars and the laminar lip. It fits me pretty good now. I'll need to lower the rear brake pedal a bit. Maybe the shifter a notch.

I just installed the highbar kit last night. I like the that I sit upright now but kind miss the control of the clubman bars but I don't miss my wrists hurting..
