yup. that's the one.
As the young lad one day perhaps slowly "inherits" the 03 xb9r, I can see that machine as my next bike!!

The seat on the B2 pictured was production representative. I rode the bike for several consecutive days, and the riding position and the main rider seat were superb -- much like the current GSX-R1000 if the GSXer were a really lightweight, skinny bitch ; ) All the improvements that had been made to Danny Eslick's front brake system were made to the B2s -- it literally had rotor mounts and rotor that were essentially identical in form to Danny's, though there was a little less beryllium in the production parts. The engine had better low-speed response AND more power. There wasn't anything not to like about the B2, and a lot of us on the inside were waiting for production for OUR next bike. There were some things, too, that were so cool as to be almost unbelievable, such as the 12-pound production rear wheel (not on the bike in the pictures). By putting the compensator on the engine output sprocket as on the belt-drive 1125s, the B2 cast aluminum rear wheel ended up only about 2 1/2 pounds heavier than the forged magnesium wheel of a MotoGP bike -- and 5 pounds or more lighter than that of any production literbike. Totally stress-optimized for rear wheel loads, the wheel looked nothing like the front, and nothing like that on any other motorcycle.

Of course, the real fun was going to be the $40,000 homologation 1190 that would have done some serious damage to a 1198R.,,,

When Erik's HD shackles are shaken free what are the chances we'll see the B2 or a close derivative of it in the not so distant future?
I'm hoping for a qualified person to respond here - purely speculative of course

Anon- what was the B2's production model name gonna be? like 1125rr? and how bout weight difference, from what ive heard it sounds like it could be around 10-20lbs. lighter than the standard 1125r. Also what contributed to the power boost?

THANK YOU SO MUCH!! again for all your insight it is VERY appreciated!!

froggy..thats what i was thinkin..however i would think that it would have made more than just an 11hp boost...and when i emailed ebr they were sayin that they were STILL in the PROCESS of making a streetable 1190 engine..so idk..

+11 hp from: intake valves and cams with steeper ramps: more area under the curve without more overlap. Another 3/4 of a point in compression. 56mm throttle bodies as the 62mms of the 1125R were actually oversize for the application, though the 1190 motor loves them. (that's were the improved drivability came from). A starter gear ratio that didn't spin the engine so fast, allowing a lighter Yuasa high-output lead-acid battery to be used, saving 4 pounds. And the same bore, stroke and displacement as the 1125.

The new bike might have been called the 1192R or something like that, hinting at the world superbike displacement without having it at first. The new frame made room for the 1190 airbox and ram air system, though that would have only gone on the homologation bike at first, which might have officially been called the 1193RR, and would have had the big bore cylinder. Timing to get the B2 released for 2010 meant the 1125R airbox and snorkel would have been used for the B2's first year, allowing a nice power boost when it was replaced with something better.

I think i remember reading that the b2 had bigger throttle bodies, they did tweak the engine, but it was closely related to the 1125.

Looking ahead to the future, hopefully the B2 or something similar will eventually be released onto the market by a new venture, I only hope it has nothing to do with HD.

how much power is that air intake good for? and is there anyway to put in on an 1125r?

Thanks

thanks for the late night posting Anon!

It is good to see a tradition of constant refinement across the board at work.... save 4lb through a smaller battery and starter gearing.... buy that guy/gal a cup of coffee!

It is an absolute abomination that Wandell didn't give Buell at least one more year- the B2 would have undoubtedly made the world sit up and take notice of Buell. WTF would you invest all that money in developing a bike and kill it before you could get back a dime of your investment?

Anony or Steve- can you tell us anything about the planned middle-weight 3-cylinder bikes?

Wandell, like a lot of the Harley guard, thinks sportbikes shouldn't exist and shouldn't be made.

The wheel was nothing short of amazing . . I don't have permission to share pictures but you can bet they will come out at some time in the future.

There were a host of other parts, say as an example the rear subframe, that were amazing enough that they would have changed the "commercially available for sale" paradigm for motorcycles.

The good news is that the one part that was old, heavy, outdated and ill performing has been removed. It's at 3700 Juneau if you are a collector into history.
