Pit Bull makes two stands that are 1125 specific. The '08 type uses rubber booties to hold the bottom and back of the swing arm. The '09 type uses metal brackets to lift by the spools (Pit Bull recommends replacing the OEM spools with delrin spools they sell). Anyone have experience with either or both? I have an '09 so I could use either one. Apparently the type that grabs the spools is more stable, but looks like it could be a swing arm scratcher.

I use the 08 style one, it works on my 08, my 09, and my XB. A little expensive, but well worth the money.

There have been reports of various spool stands scratching the swingarms, but as far as I know that was only an issue if using the stock cheapo spools.

I have an '08, so went with the 'cradle' option. It works fine and is well made, but isn't really suited for easy mod to handle the spool lift alternatives. A little duct tape or rubber hose over the lift arms can prevent scratching if you decide to go with the spool type. If I had the choice, I'd prefer the spool lift option as it is a little more multi-purpose - be sure you get the 'wide' version as the standard spool lift is a bit too tight for the 1125 swingarm.

I tried the pit bull that grabs the spools on my 09 cr and it scratched the living heck out of swing arm. I use the stand made for the 08s that cradles the bottom and back of the swing arm and it works pretty good.

I have some bikes that have spool mounts and some that don't, and the ones have mounts ALWAYS get spools. I have an '08 1125 so I don't have the spool mounts, but I have never had a problem scratching the swingarm on any of the bikes I've lifted using spools. I always use some $10 Delrin spools from Ebay and they have a valley in them that directs the hooks on the stand away from the edge of the spool and away from the swingarm. Maybe the stock 1125 spools are poorly designed, or maybe there's operator error--I don't know--but I'd be surprised to have any problems with an 1125 if I had one with spools.

In short, if you can get a spool stand, it will be more stable and trustworthy than a regular stand. I have had bikes slip off of non-spool stands (probably operator error, to be honest) but have never had that problem with spool stands.

I use the 09 stand on my 09 CR. I have had zero issues with scratches. If you're scratching your swingarm, you're doing something wrong.

Kidder,
Are you using the factory spools also?

Cool, thanks. You should send that pic to Pit Bull, they don't have one on their site.

I'm there. Your pics show it much better than the Pit Bull site.
