Before a bunch of people chime in, i only wear one headphone and keep the music to a low enough level that i can still hear everything. I don't need people telling me that i shouldn't wear headphones. I want to know what head phones you guys ride with. I am currently using some sennheiser cx-300's, they sound great but my helmet pulls the ear bud out of my ear, and then it is very annoying. I am looking at these philips head phones. I use a set of the sony earbuds that have a loop over the ear to help keep them in place. My Shoie RF-900 and RF-1000 will pull a set of standard earbuds right out my ears when putting my helmet on. Hope this helps got them at Best Buy for 39.95 | ||

I prolly use the exact same Sony "sport" around the ear headphones that sound phenomenal for $20. They're not intra-aural but the bass is really nice. I wear an Under Armor skull cap that keeps the buds in my ear regardless of my helmet shifting or lifting due to wind. Winning combo IMO. Try a skull cap OP to keep the buds in before u switch headphones. I'm an audiophile like urself (I have a pair of $200 Grado cans at home) so I feel ur pain. I keep both buds in and keep the music barely audible ... Same as ear plugs so I don't know what the big deal is ... Can hear anything that happens around me since the buds aren't actually sealed in the canal so they're passive. | ||

I use the HD Road Tech 2.0 setup. It's bluetooth so it syncs to my iphone and works great. If someone calls it picks up automatically. I can talk without wind noise issues on my CR up to about 65-70 mph. The Road tech comes with two sets of speakers. One for full face and one for 1/2 helmet. I actually squeezed the 1/2 helmet speakers into the space in my full face because they seal around your ears and keep the wind noise down. I have the Barker slip on with quiet core and they are still plenty loud. my 2 cents. | ||

The Klipsch in ear headphones are incredible, but expensive. The helmet can move and break the tight seal, and the sound changes, which is annoying. I have speakers in my helmets. | ||

i tried to use the earbuds(skullcandy, of course) but i also like to have my helmet snug. this causes the headphones to be pulled out or pressed painfully into my ear canal. so it sucks to not have music. HIGH ON FIRE | ||

Just wondering, do you all listen to music while in the twisties or just open highway? When I had an Electra Glide I would have to turn off the music unless on a highway. Too distracting for me dealing with the FLH in the curves. | ||

i only listen when on the highway, i am mainly going to use this bike as a commuter, so i will spend a lot of time on the highway. crogers72, that setup looks great, but don't need to make calls, just listen to music, so that would be overkill for me. rpm4X4, the skull candys sound good, but the pair i tried fell apart after a couple months of use. The sennheiser cx-300's have held up for over six months, and sound better then the skull candies imo. But the problem with both of them is that they get pulled out of my ear because of my helmet. ekruizenga, those headphones look great, but i would like to keep the price around $40. I think i am going to try the philips, the only thing holding me back is they are fairly new and do not have many reviews. | ||

Bought 1 pair 4 years ago and exchanged them 3 times thus far. Warranty starts over with each exchange. Reasons for exchanges, I snag a wire on something and one of the buds stop working. Their a little pricier but I wear them every day for about 16 hours a day. Ipod classic in the pocket with over 15k songs on it on shuffle. So to me it was worth it. Just so happens they fit well inside of my HJC FS-15, and my Shoi RF-1000. A buddy of mine uses the Klipsch S4 and says good things about them. But I haven't had a chance to borrow them from him. I'm using two different sets.  The one on the left is custom made. A friend of mine is the "Audiologist to the Stars" and does many "in ear monitors" for musicians. I went to his office in Carnegie Hall and got fitted for these. Upside is that the sound is perfect and you hear NOTHING except what comes through them. Downside is that they were about $500 and are earphones only. I'm not looking for the something with a microphone. The set on the right are the "off the shelf" BOSE units and seem to work pretty well. They, unlike the custom ones, start to hurt after about 5 hours of riding. I've ridden 14 hours with the custom and don't even know they are there. I really enjoy being able, out on the back roads all by my lonesome, to listen to music, audio books and so forth. What I am looking for now is a set up with a microphone so I can have the ability to respond to phone calls (they pop up on the ZUMO now, I can see who it is and answer it . . just can't talk . . perhaps not all together a "bad thing" . .  ) and to have bike-to-bike communications. Fun stuff. | ||

there is a set I used to buy that was like the crushable ear plugs, but with a speaker tube in the center. Those worked great, but got tired of the cord. Use Cardo products now for wireless in-helmet speakers | ||

Found this sight recently, http://www.earfuze.com/fuzion.html I ordered a set a couple days ago and am still waiting for them. they look to be alright and @ $45 its better than spending $300 plus on the professional custom ear plugs. Dont get me wrong I dont think anything can beat the $300 ones but the pair that I had made worked great for my rf-1000 helmet,but they just dont work under my arai rx7 lid. | ||

i bought a set of those that go "over the ear" very similar to what you have there but only wore them once... the over the ear part gets pushed on by the helmet causing severe pain while trying to remove the helmet after a ride... they got uncomfortable after a 20 minute ride, and was hell removing the helmet.... | ||

Here's the headphones I was talking about. The trick to having wired drivers is to arrange for enough slack in the leads so moving the helmet in any extreme doesn't yank on them. I used the skull cap that I mentioned above to keep the movement of the helmet from pulling the buds out. Here's what I'm using (made by Sony, $20 from Radio Shack): http://www.pricescan.com/Item_Images/ImagesL/26816 0.jpg I like ear buds (not intra-aural buds) because they don't totally block all sound from the outside world. Nearly 99% of the wind noise is knocked out, but any penetrating sound (horns, trains, sirens, etc.) are easily distinguishable from the music, which I find important. | ||

Semi-hijack: I use an iPod Shuffle 3 (the little memory-stick-looking thing). Controls are on the headphone wire. There are adapters out there so you can use "normal" tip/ring/sleeve headphones (the iPod 'phones have a fourth conductor for the controller). I've tried the Scosche and one other brand that slips my mind right now (from BestBuy)...but they like to die. ANYone know of a good, durable "insert" that has the up/down/skip buttons for iPod control? Or am I stuck using the Apple headphones that like to lose their rubber rings? | ||

The Monster cable guys have the iphone/touch 4 ring to 3 ring converter, but the remote only has play/pause. You may try them again for something newer. | ||

Skull Candy's are a great bang for the buck. Got mine on Amazon for around $12 a while back. I don't ride with headphones though. Too many crazy cagers around here to have the distraction. | ||

I use the Stereo Receiver CEP headphones. They use foam to seal in my ears. The transducers fit inside the ear and allow very good audio response. The wires don't tangle easily. J&M Elite headset made my own cable to go from phone/mp3 to connect to lower cable all placed inside the helmet obviously doesnt have the fidelity that the in the ear ones have but i can't get any in the ear type in my ear under my lid so these work best plus they don't act as ear plugs to block out any ambient sounds that i mmay need to hear | ||

The regular earbuds (those not custom-fitted or designed for us), tend the get bound up when the helmet goes on and off. Also, the non-fitted ones (on me anyway), always found a way to back themselves out. So I forked over for some custom ones... I've had a set of the earinc models for a few years now. Great audio fidelity and they're robust.
