So I just got my engine replaced on my 2009 CR with a brand new 2010 engine...only took 3+ months but who's counting (besides me). But anyways I was just wondering what the right flash would be in this situation? Still the 152?

That's what mine had on it before the torque hammer flash.

I guess I got lucky and only had to wait 1 month for a new motor.

You need to download the 2010 owners manual, atleast the sections on the motor capacities, because they are different from the 09 engine. 3.3qts of oil will put it right at the bottom of the window.

Still looking for a service manual for the '10. I hope all the valve adjustments are the same.

I also got a letter from HD about the stator recall on replacement motor bikes, but I'm not doing it since they will want to reflash the ecm.

Why did you need a new motor? Both of you?
I have 2010cr and am wondering what is different about the 2010 vs the 09's.

The 2010 motor's have a slightly higher oil capacity and a different oil checking procedure. Everything else is the same.

I have no way of confirming it, but I would imagine 152 would be the latest flash.

I joined your Club last night. Motor GRENADED at 3000 miles. I have ran it hard, but never abused it. This afternoon I go see the dealer, and imagine the long road to recovery begins. ~sigh~

Interesting, I wondering what the cause for the failure is? Those that have had their motor go can you please let us know.

I guess this could fall under "different oil checking procedure" but don't forget the oil sight glass that the 2010's added so you don't have to check it with the dipstick.

You can't check the 2010's with a dipstick, good luck finding it : )

I'll give a report once mine is back at the dealer. No idea what happened with mine, it just 'popped' and locked up. Turned over, but horrific knock bang clang, so I wont touch anything on it.

Dixopr- After HD sent a few technicians over to look at my bike to see what happened, they said they couldn't figure out exactly the cause and they weren't going to do a complete tear down of the engine to figure it out.

I was pretty much riding it fairly hard, but not harder than most people here. One day I took off from a stoplight, got close to redline in 2nd gear, shifter, then bang! The motor case cracked, everything freewheeled, and that was the end of my motor.

Wow sounds crazy. I hope that is not the norm. You all had 09 bikes?

Might have something to do with this: http://www.allworldauto.com/recalls/NHTSA_08V55400 0_2009_BUELL_1125CR_recall_89291.html

Mine was a manufacturing issue. One of the piston rings was broke and the broken off part ended up under the rear jug causing an oil leak. I noticed the leak and took it right back to the dealer. Kind of sucked buying a new bike and only getting to ride it 11 miles and then waiting a month to get it fixed. Allen HD was great about it.

I was lucky the piston ring caused a leak otherwise I don't know where I would be now.
