I'm sure we have all been reading the many many threads about how great the Ebr ECM is, and the various options you can have when placing the order.

Can we use this thread as a HOW TO, or could somebody list all the options available as nothing is mentioned on Erik's website.

I'm in the United Kingdom so have a catalyst, i'm running a stock modified exhaust done by Tubbs here in the UK. I would like to loose the engine braking, keep the sidestand switch, it's a '08' bike with the updated cluster if that makes any difference ? What do i need to ask for when ordering, and any suggestions or recommendations please !!

Just add in the note(all you just typed) plus a contact phone number when you submit the order

^^ what he said. Put all the info into the comments box. Definately specify the sidestand switch and bear in mind you may need to disconnect the BAS if Erik Buell Racing move the quick-shift cct back to those pins.

If you don't want to do that make sure you mention that in the order too.

Cheers guys, Jules whats the quick-shift cct ? and is that BAS the annoying thing under the seat that clips onto the airbox lid, barrometric pressure sensor ?

Also if i asked could they set up the ECM so should i stall it, i dont need to find neutral to start again, just want to be able to pull the clutch and crank her on again. Has happened a couple of times now when i'm sat at a set of lights in a daydream, lights go green and bam i stall it haha, it's a bugger trying to get into neutral with a que of traffic behind me that i have just gone past : )

When you go to order, there is a comment box, specify year, model, mention the euro spec, put in your VIN, mention your concerns and anything you think is relevant.

As for the clutch thing, unless the Euro spec bikes are different than US, you should be able to start it in gear by holding the clutch in. You may have a bad clutch switch. You can go into Diagnostic Mode on the cluster, one of the menus is clutch state, it should bounce between 0 and 1 as you squeze/release the lever.

Also the BAS is located under the left pod not far from the ECM.

I have some questions as well.
Does the ebr ecm work with a cat converter? I have a cali bike and the exhuast has a cat converter, do i need to find an exhaust with out a cat converter, or will mine work?

Also, Is there a way for the ebr ecm to keep the engine braking? I actually like engine braking, and i would really like to keep it.

Hi Avavlaugh

The BAS is the Bank Angle Sensor (under the L/H pod above the ECU). The race ECU is set up to have a quick shifter input, it used to be connected to the pins that the street bike uses for the BAS but it was moved to the sidestand pins as they aren't used for the US market bikes.

I can restart mine with the bike in gear and the clutch pulled in (I just checked in the garage), so it seems odd that you can't - check the diagnostic mode as suggested.
The bike does "jump" forward a bit when starting in gear but literally only for a fraction of a second.

I'm in the UK too so yours should be the same : )

Thanks again everybody, i have just looked at the clutch state in diag mode, with the engine not running when i pull the clutch lever in stays 0 does not flicker at all, then rocked bike into 1st, still 0, rocked into 2nd, still shows 0 ?

Is it the clutch switch has failed ?

Out of warranty now so ill have to cough up for this one.

The most likely culprit is the switch, mine definately swaps between 0 and 1 on the display. There is a slight delay between changes of state, so assuming you pull the lever in and then wait a second and don't see a state change then it's like;y the switch is duff...

can you pop the wires off it and short them together and see if that changes the state?

And once again you badwebbers come through, whipped the switch of, tested it no change of status, pulled the switch apart and i find a small stone in it which is stopping the switch gear moving. Cleaned it up, reassembled and hey presto she starts with the clutch lever pulled in.

Thanks im a happy bunny again : )
