Long story short...got new tire mounted yesterday and was in a hurry to put front wheel back on last night. Wrench slipped when installing the caliper, and stripped one of the two bolts that mounts it to the fork.

I have the parts book to know that I need AA0608.2CXZB, but can't find it anywhere so far. Looked it up on a non-sponsor site that has good online parts lookup feature and even ordered one to see if it was in stock there, but reportedly "special order" item with unknown ship date.

So, I need some suggestions to help avoid down time. Any sponsors got this in stock? Anyone know where I can find the equivalent? I checked auto parts stores around here, but not one of them seem to carry socket head cap screws.

Thanks, Dktech! Will keep that in my back pocket if I can't find a faster option today, since shipping from OR will take a while.

I am actually wondering if there is an HD equivalent part number? Say, does a VROD or something use the same bolt to mount the caliper? If so, there's a good chance I could pick one up today.

Pretty doubtful that there is a HD model that uses that bolt.

Exactly. A couple of bucks the local hardware store.

Also, the exact same bolt (at least in size, perhaps not the same length) holds on your passenger pegs, so if you took those off you might look there for a solution. The caliper will hold a bolt longer than 1" -- it's drilled through -- so you could get by with a slightly longer bolt as long as it's not close to touching the spokes.

The torque spec on this bolt is reasonably high, and over time (20 wheel changes?) , no matter how careful you are, you will "stretch out" the cap nut on them, or at least wear off the finish a bit promoting some corrosion, at least here in humid Texas.

I buy them by the box of 20 and replace every so often so I have fresh, new fasteners on hand for those critical bolts.

Thanks to all...Did end up finding the size/thread info, but the HD shop had one anyway. The guys in service just dug around and pulled one out that was a half inch too long. He zipped the end off for me and de-burred it, and tossed it to me...No charge. Great bunch of guys, and not even a Buell dealer!
