i am supposed to pick up the last 2009 1125R from my Harley dealership this week.
in anticipation i have already purchased a nice Candy Blue HMF pipe & K&N filter from ebay ($400/both). (bike it white & blue)

should i just bolt the pipe on & install the K&N filter & ride or will i need to do a few more mods?
i have been recommended to buy the Erik Buell 1125R RACE ECM & resistor plug then remove my exhaust solenoid.

now...i didnt want to get that 'involved' physically (wrenching) or financially.

what i am looking for is what is best for the overall performance of my new bike.

just bolt the pipe on, put the filter in & ride it or go the whole way & get the other parts???

i appreciate any feedback from an experienced 1125R owner who has been in a similar situation or even comments/opinions from any 1125R owners.

Just ride. No need for anything other than improving fuel mileage and reducing heat.

I would have gone for Erik Buell Racing ECM $250 (and kept stock exhaust), for improved engine control, fuel economy, and lower engine temperature (from the posts I read here).

My 2 cents.

just bought the race ECM & resistor plug....i cant ever do anything half-assed.

i appreciate your 2 cents.

i could have saved the $400 if i checked here first, but in all honesty i would have ended up with exhaust & a K&N anyway.

i will post up once everything is on.

If you don't feel comfortable removing the solenoid, you can just unplug it and plug in the resistor. The solenoid restricts the throttle under certain conditions, by unplugging it you will keep it from activating. The resistor's job is to trick the ecm into thinking that the solenoid is still plugged in so no codes will throw. To unplug the solenoid and plug in the resistor only requires you to take the seat off, most people remove the solenoid, myself included. But I did it because my bike was wrecked, so i had it stripped down anyway.

As far as the ebr ecm, I plan on getting one. The cool thing about the ebr ecm, is that it is tuned to make the bike run the best way that it can. the stock ecm is tuned to pass epa/emissions crap. Everyone i have talked to said it really opens up the bike. Plus, it literally takes less then 10 min to install.
