I ordered a left pod a few weeks ago from a low side I did a few months back. The dealer said it would be 5-7 days and they would call when it came in. I called them on friday (23days later) and asked them if it had come in yet and they told me it was held up in paint. I said, are you sure, because its not a painted part. Kinda smartassed he replied that it shows that I ordered a red radiator cover. (facepalm) I said you do realize the Buell does not paint their body panels right? They are colored plastics. His replys were uhm huh umm well...

I hate when someone blows a lie out their ass. A simple I dont know why its not here but Ill call you when it gets here would do fine.

All bodywork typically has a 5 week lead time. This was the same before production ended. I ordered a pod last November and it took something like 4 weeks.

Im not upset at all about the pod not being here. I fully expected it to be 4 weeks. (no rice told me that a while back) I only called to see if my oil filer was in yet and just check on the pod. Thats another thing. I have to order my filters in. They dont stock them. I asked them why and they said "You know Buell is discontinued right?" WTF. REALLY?

RPM

I feel your pain as the Canadian dealer will not stock any Buell parts from what ive been told.

They want paid in full , no return on any parts ordered even if they end up being back ordered forever.

Buell was always the red headed HD stepchild but they now moved our beds to the basement and locked the door behind us.

i have ordered a tail section, pod, and airbox cover, they all came within a few weeks. my local dealer is really slow at ordering parts. I actually order all my parts from latus-hd's website, even though they are in oregon, they are able to get parts to me in about half the time my local dealer does, and for less $$ too.

I ordered a fairing and chin for an 09 firebolt, about a month ago. I got the paint delay reason too. The dealer said it could be another month. Ill check out latus-hd's site.

So OLDOG, Do you want to tell them or should I? OK I will, for those who dont know, the plastics are color molded thus having no paint. More importantly, there cant be a paint hold up.

No need to tell anyone as this was mentioned in the first post. Im very well aware that they cannot be held up in paint.

Just a thought...
Maybe it takes ten minutes to melt/cast a new surlyn pod cover... and 33 days to put on the decals?

My dealer said the same...4-5 week time frame until shipping. I let it go since my clutch cover is still on backorder. It looks like the fairing lower will get here before the damn clutch cover.

Ordered my left pod March 17. My mom works there so I had her look into thinking they wouldn't bs her and she got told paint too. Makes me think dealerships are getting told paint but you never know. Seems odd more than one of us have the same story. Maybe they are considering the buffing/finishing stage "paint". The image of one poor soul in a warehouse with a stack of pods to the roof buffing and polishing comes to mind. Later I was told to expect my pod June or July ...I'm not holding my breath. On another note my front fairing took only a week and came in with my clutch and stator cover.

Peter,

Deeley owns all HD and Buell parts in Canada (they are the sole importer of HD).

Deeley is no longer stocking any Buell parts in Canada.

All parts are ordered in,

I bought the last CR high bar kit in stock. Go ask your dealer for one and see what happens.

I have no issues getting service. The Cali Can and Harness took about 2 weeks to order in from the US.

I can live with that kind of wait.

The stock answer - oops.

I may be wrong but I can't help thinking they might be holding an order for more items. shipping gets cheaper and cheaper as the size and weight of the shipment goes up. In this economy every cent counts.

I bought mine when I was down south for about half the cost they want in Canada. Your right about Deeley they make buying parts expensive and slow sometimes. Your dealer however should have the basic service parts on hand.

I had to call to see if I would get the paint line from the local dealer. I sure did when I asked about different colors. I was feed the same line. I told them its a colored plastic part no paint is involved. He told me to check that because all tanks are painted. I said for one its not the tank it a air box cover. I said, "whatever and hung up". That was my funny for the day.

These are the guys trying to sell bikes. they feed you lines and tell you to check yourself before they think. lol HD= A new name ***How Dumb can you get.***

NO, I did not call my normal dealer I called the local shop knowing I would get some chrome lover of old and slow.

Ratgin I've bought a couple of bikes from my dealer and they treat me good. Depends who's on the parts counter if I have to pay. I usually offer to and about half the time they tell me not to worry about it. I know it's their policy to collect payment at time of order.

I ordered a couple of parts including a right side red pod and my parts came in within a week. My HD dealer is full of a bunch of guys that would rather not mess with the Buell, but the parts took barely any time to arrive. I made this order about 2 months ago.

Seaford HD in Delaware is the dealer

I can call the My preferred dealer Gainesville HD and talk to any number of guys their . They never ask for funds up front and never give me a wild line on parts not being there. with them its always been a I dont have it yet or who knows where it is. we placed the order and this is the confirmation. Usually they call if its late when I check on something and i get a straight up answer.

The place I was referring to about the painted part is a different place 1/2 the distance from my house. They plain suck. My bike broke down once on the road it just happened to be 1 mile from this other store. it ended up being no ground from the rear to the frame. they said it was paint on the frame. and lost connection. they had the bike three weeks. They charged 519.00 for the repair telling me my warranty was out. Even though the issue was a factory issue where the paint was not removed from a area which ended up causing no ground.
thats service there. they told me it tool 45 mins to fix the bike and the rest was service charges for a service which it didnt go there for. I just did the oil, lubed the lines, set the primary chain, changed the master cyl fluid and waxed it. It didnt need a service. I got stuck with the bill. I still dont buy stuff from there unless its in stock and I'm in a crunch. even then its just a gasket or two if needed.

Let me get this straight you went to the dealer for a electrical issue and along with raping you to fix it they did a service without your ok and then forced you to pay for it?

If that was the case I would have raised so much hell they would have had to drag me out.

any color cover made since 2003 is an option. and yellow was made a few years. although there would be no factory available matching fairing or pod covers...

and there are yellow 1125's running around
