I've been doing some frame insulating and such and I noticed that at WOT the throttle bodies were almost but not quite wide open, there apears to be a throttle stop on the left side of the unit. Is this normal? Or should it be flat wide open when WOT?

THanks, DR

When i fitted my traction grips and de-noid at the same time i noticed this too, a few adjustments later and both butterflys now open fully.

Can you go into the adjustments or is it too long to write up? Maybe I can Pm you and we can talk, I do that much better than type. Also not familar with "de-noid"?

Thanks, DR

I have to think that if they aren't open fully, there is a good reason. Looking at mine, they appear to be fully open, but I'm just eyeballing it.

I thought mine weren't fully opened however they seem to completely open in relation to the angle of the intake tracts. I think that's most important.

Go into Diagnostic Mode and check TPS for 2-100%

Dktechguy112 -- That ain't WOT all the way, something is definitely not right. Looks like that's only about 80% open.

I'll double check it, when i took the pic i was trying to hold the throttle open and take the pic at the same time, maybe my hand slipped a bit.

mine do not open all the way either....

I figured with such massive size ( > 60mm throttle body) there would really be no way these could open fully on a "street" bike and I wrote it off as "potential"

yeah i figured mine are working , if i am only getting 80% throttle, then i can't imagine what 100% would be.

well it'd sure be interesting if someone from Erik Buell Racing would weigh in here...

Here's a shot from a video I recorded a couple years ago (low resolution), of the throttle held fully open to the stop. It DOESN'T seem to go full vertical, but it's very close -- way closer than the image posted earlier in this thread. I was assured by the engineer operating it that, yes, in fact, this was 100% wfo.

nattyx1, is that an 1125 throttle body?
Notice how the plates on mine are gold, and yours are silver, it seems odd to me that the plates are different colors.

hey fyi YA'LL...

One of the hose clamps that retains the Throttle body to the intake tube Can Be positioned in a manner that will inhibit the opening of the TB 100%... its the front intake clamp from the TB to the coupler... if looking from the riders position, down, then its would the clamp on the top in the fornt intake tube... the throttle linkage will contact this clamp thus causing the issue...

Natty1X, That looks like mine. Technically thats not wide open but it's close. No knowlege with FI and can see a whole can of worms opening up for that couple of degrees that it may not even make any differance. I'm too much or a perfectionist sometimes.

WTF really? Im going to have to check this out. Nattyx1 that does look way different than mine, much more open. My butterfly plates are gold as well. Something is weird.

anyone have a pic a little farther away with both openings at WOT?

the first pic above is not WFO.....

Either the linkage or that coupler clamp is inhibiting the Tb from opening all the way...

the second pic.. it looks to be all the way open but to be honest the picture is not the greatest quality... I'm betting the color difference is more due to the camera than the TB actually being a different color...

Or perhaps of the throttle body is not correctly seated, like moved closer to the cable mount, you would not be able to pull it wide open.

my bike was wrecked and the airbox was smashed up, maybe the throttle bodies shifted in the wreck? I will take a look when i change out the frame.

After I hit the break-in mileage and was able to open the throttle all the way I was disappointed in the bike’s power at the upper RPM”s. But I thought it was normal. Last week I de-noided my bike and noticed the throttle bodies did not appear to open all the way, I would have passed it off as normal if not for the info on this bulletin board. Today upon further investigation I found the throttle bodies were only opening a little more than half and were restricted by throttle body bracket. WOW what a difference, now this is more like the way a sport bike should run. Thank you Badweb.

On the right side, check those throttle body clamps, check that IAC tube. On the left side, check that Cali fuel line if you have one.
