On my ride to work today in the windy city, a plastic bag blew under my 100 mile Barker's exhaust while at a stop light - I didn't notice it until we were already moving and had to stop to peel it off. Unfortunately, the bottom is now covered in melted and burned black plastic... any ideas for getting it off? |

It'll be easier to remove the bigger bits when they're hot.. Get the exhaust nicely warmed up and use a wooden spatchula to scrape as much off as possible then let the pipe cool and try "Barkeepers friend" and/or a 3m (scotchbrite) pad with washing up liquid.. |

Speedy, try lacquer thinner, it melts most plastics after a short while but it might take paint off if you painted the Barker. It will not hurt SS. I'd let the thinner set on it for a while and then use a green pad to remove it. Watch any other plastics or paint nearby for splashing. And be very careful its more flammable then gasoline. Good luck. Bob |

Just ride it. I had a chin fairing melt to my Micron, after a while it went away. |

Our Saturn got a plastic bag melted on the transverse exhaust pipe once. I knew what it was by the smell of burnt plastic. Got a putty knife and scraped it off the rusty pipe. I wouldn't use a metal scraper on a MC pipe though unless I could easily restore the finish or didn't care. |

Happened to me with my HMF. I ended up scraping and sanding it off and buffing out the pipe. Belly pan FTW! (wish I had one ) |

I would think that if you just leave it on there, over a short period of time it will get baked, hard and brittle and either fall off by itself or you'd be able to tap it off with a wood stick when the bikes cooled down (I could be wrong though)...... |
