Dealer told me to leave it on a charger over night. So I leave it on for 8 hrs a day while I'm at work after I ride in I missed a day and a half and light comes back on. |

That's a problem. Either your battery is bad, or your charging system is bad. Take it in and insist they figure out wtf is going on. If that fails, find a different dealership. Depending on the bike, you could have an 08 with a cluster drain issue - Tech Tip 396. |

Something is up. As long as the engine light does not come on with the battery light. It should not be the Stator. Maybe just the battery or a different charging issue. When you get the engine light and the battery light at the same time. You got about 5 to 10 miles and then you are calling a tow truck. |

Kyle: 1) What kind of "charger" are you using? 2) What are your daily trips like: how long how fast what rpm's do you usually run? 3) What electrical accy's do you have? 4) Since you have the cr have you had the harness installed for the alternator? 5) Did the dealer check your alternator output and load test your battery? After you complete this list we should be able to determine what is really going on. Time2Ride Neil S. |

I am trying to remember what mine did exactly. It might have just started with the battery light. Then I got the CEL too then you are f'd. Luckily for me I was not on the freeway because the bike just shut off and if you dont remind yourself to pull in the clutch the rear wheel will lock up. 4,000 miles since new parts. Stator and new harness. No problems so far for me since updates. |

you got a charging problem and I would change dealers cause there is a good chance they are clueless or just not willing to work on your bike. |

Ccryder 1. I'm using the battery tender jr. 2. Daily trip is about 30 min there & 30 back @ 5k to 7k rpm 3. Stock bike. no ass'y. 4. My profile was wrong. I got a 09 R with the harness update. 5. I stopped @ dealer today. Tried yesterday but I couldn't make it. I showed up 15 min before close @ 6pm. This Willie Nelson look alike says "dude were closing I'm on my way home. His boss says just put the Load tester on it. Willie says "man this bikes got we-calls and dude only has 1 key with him so how I'd he gone pop the trunk without turn'n off the bike??? I ain't jumping him. It's 6pm I'm going home. So I start to put my helmit on and leave cause the owner is really great but this a$$hole just cost her 1 Custermer for life. I really wanted to back a truck up onto willies' bike and tell him "hey it's 6. guess your not gone make it home. Huh?" but that's just all those years of playing grand theft auto coming out. Thank God someone with some compassion came out, check the battery, said the bike is sending a charge but the battery doesn't seem to be holding it. at this point Willie walks back and says somthing thatt most have MADD some kind of sense to the 2 guys checkingy bike but turns and leaves to which they responded. "Oh yeah sure just walk away don't help us out" So Then they check the battery and says there getting a code they never saw before. So I go, what's the number. So I can post it here. And they say it's not numbers. There screen say system noise? They tell me to leave it. Nope. I'm tired of begging for these guys to take my cash. It's time to go gay cause I'm giving Brian over in Langhorn a big wet kiss as soon as I lay eyes on him. WTF is system noise??? oh yeah. After I rode back to Philly from jersey. And stopped off at my job in willow grove to pick up my tender. the bike died as soon as I parked it in front of my house. Now that's a faithful bike if I ever saw one and it deserves better. Kyle: You are doing everything right. It seems that the harness update was probably too late for your stator. Dealer needs to check the stator output and load test the battery. If that is all good then probably voltage regulator (they should be able to see it's function/ not functioning when checking the stator output. Load testing the battery is pretty simple but if they want to replace it, let them do it. Yeah you need to find another dealer. Let us know what happens. Neil S. |
