Hi all, I spent a couple of hours on friday night fiddling with my new Corbin seat. It looks real nice. Feels good. Its a bit higher off the frame than the stock seat, I think the rubber feet might be a little high, not sure, but my issue was with metal tabs in the front that are supposed to hold the front in place. They do not fit. They do not allow the seat to move into place. I had to remove them after several attempts at spacing them out. The thing that really annoys me is why would you use a 1/4 inch metal tab to push a plastic seat against a plastic air box cover. Why wouldn't they make this out of plastic as well? I will contact them and ask, but I am hoping someone here has had this experience and can guide me... Thanks Peter | ||

Search and ye shall find. I *think* you have to shave the bumpers a bit to make the metal tab slide into the it's receptacle. Not sure. So before you get the exacto knife out, search on BadWeb for the right answer. | ||

I also recall seeing that you need to remove the front tab, add washer spacers and reattach to seat. Search "Corbin Seat" - there was quite a string of folks bitching about this very problem. Good luck. | ||

I just took the damn things off. It hooks well enough that I couldn't pull the seat off with reasonable pressure so I left it. Thing that gets me is they already had a seat for an XB12, why not just use that? A difference in the bumpers, just make them removable. | ||

Is yours an XB seat or specifically for the 1125? My 1125 Corbin fits quite well. | ||

I ended up shaving a lot of the bumpers to get the right fit and that is the idea. Corbin specifies the need to shave the bumpers. Take your time to get it perfect and the fit is exceptional. I ordered a 1125 seat. What I noticed is that the rubber feet make the seat sit a little high. Enough that you can see under the seat and through the other side with a light. The front section is a little high as a result and the metal tabs don't fit into position. So I took them off. On Saturday I had to ride in a rain storm and I was worried about water getting in under the seat. I was afraid I would get a short somewhere. I am seriously considering putting the stock seat back on until I sort this out. Thanks Peter | ||

Hey Tod, Did you have to shave the back bumpers as well. Mine seems slightly higher on the right. Would I have to shave the right a bit more? Did you have to do that? Thanks Peter | ||

Typical Corbin. Telling YOU to shave down the bumpers instead of installing the correct size in the first place... | ||

Careful with that XB seat - that's what I have on mine and it makes contact with the rear rocker box. | ||

I bought an OEM XB seat off eBay as a spare while I get my OEM 1125R seat reprofiled and recovered and it has the same fittings as my OEM 1125R seat and the same part number. Is it just the corbin's that changed their fitment method then? (odd) |
