My '08 1125r with a d&d pipe runs very poorly when the CT reaches 181 or over. Now that the day time temp is high 80's it has become unrideable CT 200 at lights and it stalls. anyone else having this issue?

Shop says its the pipe, but that sounds like bull to me. none of my other bikes do that with a pipe.

HELP PLEASE!

Is your coolant level good?

Also, define "runs bad". Specific RPMs? Gears? Everything is fine till the moment it hits 181?

My coolant level is good yes.

Runs bad as is stumbles badly from idle to 4500rpm or so, stalls at highways speeds, and will NOT idle I must hold the revs up to 2000 or it will stall and is very hard to start back up.

Any other modifications to the bike other than the exhaust? Race ECM? If stock ECM, what ECM calibration version does it have?

I have the latest flash for the 08 1125r, I dont recall the number. I did have a O.S.B. tune on it, which made it feel more powerful but once it hit 181 same issue. I have since gone back to stock flash.

Did it run fine at one point with the d&d on it and CT over 181?
Could you swap out the d&d for the stocker as a test?
What are your afr values?
What is the AT reading when the CT hits 181?
Have you done a tps reset?
Any error codes present in diag mode?

the first day the d&d was on it ran fine, I have put the stock exhaust back on same issue.
Afr values when I left the dealership where 100 and 100, they might of changed since then. The AT is all over the place as low as 80 and as high as 120, but that thing si way of from the realy AT which is high 80's
I have done a tps reset
I did have a error code before the dealer had it comm error vspeed, or something similar.

A similar situation happed to mine early in my ownership. My bike is stock.

I traced it to an O-2 sensor that wasn't bad enough to trigger CEL until it got really HOT (ambient and CT).

I figured it out purely by happenstance by switching to an o-2 sensor I happened to have lying around

No guarantees that is what is going on with yours.

Is the problem with both part throttle and full throttle?

What is the operating CT range for a 1125r/cr? The Erik Buell Racing ECM for street gas doesn't have "CT Cold" warning on startup so I have to guess at when it's OK to ride. Here now in Florida it takes a couple of minutes to warm up to 150. Is that hot enough? And, what's too hot? In the summer with the stock ECM I'd get just over 200 in traffic. Erik Buell Racing's ECM is probably richer across the board and I'm expecting it to run a little cooler.

Spaceman, I saw CT's just over 200 yesterday while in Chicago NW burbs traffic. I have the E B R ecm and it was only upper 70's, so don't expect it to run any cooler

My original IC would show the CT all the time.
While warming up, the temp would flash.
Operating Temp, when it stopped flashing was 151 dF.

When I got the 09 IC, I got a flashing COLD, so I would go to DiagMode and watch CT in Celsius ... 66 dC =151 dF.

The E-B-R ECM shows temp, no flashing, in my favorite Fahrenheit degrees. : )

150* is when the cold stops flashing and @ 230* the bike will start to skip spark the ignition to bring the temps down..

warmest i have ever had my bike to was 214* in BAD stop and go traffic.. i promise you will shut the bike off before you get to 230*... my nuts were quite roasted as well as my legs from the tank..

Latest...She's at the dealership in all stock form. After a breif disagreement about it NOT being because I had a pipe installed at one time, the "Tech" agrees there is something wrong, but what that is, no idea. dropped of on Sat. Lets see how long they have it this time. My record so far is 19 days and still wasnt fixed.

Check your oil.

Mine was having the same problem; running hot, stumbling and even vibrating more & running a little rough... I saw as high as 225 F in traffic in ambient temps around 65 F in Portland last weekend.

Checked the oil when I got home and it was pretty low. I put more in and it ran better and cooler.

p.s. I find the cold check method to be the most consistent for me... I check it in the morning before heading to work and in the afternoon before heading home. I struggle to get a consistent reading with the hot check method... Plus it takes longer and is a pain in the ass.
