There are differences especially if your 1125r is an 08'. Erik Buell Racing would be the best ones to say: yay or nay.

Hmm, then my bike shouldn't run. LoL

I have a 2008 1125R and a 1125CR Erik Buell Racing ECM installed.

Why, you ask. I swapped my R swingarm to a CR swingarm to shorten my gearing and according to Erik Buell Racing when I asked them, the only difference in the R & CR ECMs is the gearing. So they said I needed a CR ECM to get the tuning benefits & correct for my CR swingarm gearing. So, I did, and yummy, runs purrfectly.

So, you can put a CR ECM in a R, regardless of year, but you're speedo / odo will be off, unless you swap the swingarm also.

Dman,

dont talk so strange the 2008R has different injectors and calibration, then the 2009 you have no idea where you talk about, take the parts manual, and have à look first, before you say anything about this subject.

Easy there EasyRider.

I'm just saying, I asked Erik Buell Racing, they said what I posted. I bought a CR ECM and installed it in my 08 R and it runs great.

Sooo, if I don't know what I'm talking about then neither does Erik Buell Racing & my bike must be running on a miracle from god.

Where does your knowledge come from other than speculation? I'm just saying.

I look inside the ecm on a daily basis, making fuelmaps is my work for the 1125

Dude. Easyrider is a bit of a resource. Like asking Bruce Lee "Who the F%#& are YOU?" in a bar fight....

Just sayin...

Geesh, isn't it Friday, why is everyone in a "poke" mood.

Look at what I wrote, where do I say "who the F are you", or question his expertise at all?? I've been on Buell's since '99, I've seen easyRider's posts before, no issues.

I make a joke (hence the LoL) about my bike running great with this setup, & explain my setup at the direction of Erik Buell Racing.

I ask him if his knowledge on the r vs CR Erik Buell Racing ECM is speculation, or has he actually asked them &/or tried it - like I have. What's wrong with that, I'm the one keeping it light & being respectful.

I say I asked Erik Buell Racing & they gave me answers, I installed the CR in my 08 & it's great - and I get told I don't know what I'm talking about & don't post.

I thought this was America?!? (for the south park fans)

Anywho, OP shoot Erik Buell Racing a call or email, bro, they were very responsive to me on my questions & should help ya out.

Man, is the workday done, is it time to ride yet?! (on my CR Erik Buell Racing ECM equiped 08 1125R I might add, I'm just sayin, again)

Here, I'll even make it easier (no pun intended), from the horses mouth, not mine, now stop picking on me. :-p

Dave,

Yes, that is the only difference, to make the speedometer read correctly with the different gearing. So an R with CR gearing should get a CR ECM if you want correct speedometer readings.

Thank you,

Subject: ECM

I have a 2008 1125R, I just got a CR swingarm, sprocket, etc., to convert to the CR gearing. Should I order the ECM for the CR then versus the R? Is the difference to account for the gearing?

Thanks & can’t wait to order & install. All the best to Erik Buell Racing!

My own personal experience with my 08 tells me that there is more to it than the 09 and newer injectors just being a targeted injector. It ran terrible with just the targeted injector and the 08 map. As far as max hp # both styles will be the same with the correct map. I have an 08R with the targeted injectors and a race ecm with a CR map. A little mistake that needs to be fixed, my speedometer is about 4mph slow now and the gear indicator gets confused but it runs great!
