Frogy's suggestion is great until you forget to turn them on during the day (which you will, frequently, and not notice) and get ticketed, or better yet, flattened by some housewife in an 8000-lb diesel Excursion on a grocery run. |

well on the R you still have corner lights and at least here in fl thats enough for a cop but the 8000lb excursion doesnt see me with all 6 burning anyway so i continue to ride like i dont exist |

I have DDM's 55w 8000k HID's in both the high and low of my CR and have not had one issue even after a crash with them after 6000 miles |

I have run 35W 6k lo-beams in Loretta since Summer 08.
About 12k miles ago.
No relay, wired to the OEM headlight pins, works great.
I like the color contrast when I flash my hi-beams that are OEM halogens.

Ccryder - I am going to order that relay - would you know if I should order the negative switched relay?

There was someone recently that found a pointless relay that had a delay circuit built in so it would not fire the HIDs for 10-45s after key on.

I have a set of DDM 55k HIDs on my R and have noticed the headlights not coming on from time to time.
I have observed that they are more likely to work if I wait several seconds before attempting to crank the bike. I generally wait until the battery light comes on.
I have also got into the habit of checking to see if they're on either by walking in front of my bike while it's warming up, peeking at the outer edges of the inside of the fairing to look for light (really only works at dawn or dusk) or simply standing up and leaning forward while riding.
Implementing a delayed or brake engaged circuit would be a good idea. I would be interested in a plug & play solution. Not interested in anything involving splicing or soldering (because I suck at it). |

HMMMM. you could always use the power and ground in the connecter for the aux power outlet that is controlled by the ecm. the only thing that you would need to do(in my opinion) is reduce the voltage that the ecm turns off the aux relay for low voltage.
but wait.......i already said that once. |

A delay relay could be added using spade connectors in between the facotry wiring and HID wiring pretty easily. If mine continues to have an issue I will do this. If someone wants to send me 2 delay relays I will gladly assemble one for myself and test it...and assemble the other for the supplier.

now this is not being a smart ass, just learning.
what is the need to turn the bike off on the highway but still have the head lights on?
broke down on side of road and need to have lights on so they see you, i would just turn on your high beams. i wouldn't use high beams with hid as my choice since the "flash to pass" feature does not work well with hid's |

Has this been only a 1125 issue? as stated before my Uly fires every time, ordered a timer for the 1125.
Have'nt had time to study the wiring diagrams,Any input? |

Old topic, but new for me!
I just installed a DDM 55w for my low-beam and I have not had much luck with it firing correctly. It'll fire sometimes, but most of the time it fires and then goes out right away. I pulled it and replaced it with the stock halogen for now, but I'm looking for a solution to put that HID back in.
Did anyone have any luck with that 'pointless' relay? |

Joseb, did you ensure correct polarity?
Most (all?) of us had to clip the part of the connector preventing you from plugging it in "backwards" and actually plug it in "backwards" to get it to work.
Check your wiring, maybe call DDM for support? |
